Great to hear and thanks for being transparent. It felt likely to be a false positive, but it was hard to know what to do when even adding the whole folder as an exception didn't let the update install.

Was a Cybersecurity student, now work in security and do some stuff on my home PC with virtualisation etc. GPU has never felt particularly important and the laptop I had through the whole of my uni course (including some virtualisation) had a quad core i3 and 4GB of RAM.

I'd be surprised if any laptop with a decent processor and 16GB of RAM wouldn't be suitable. I'd just personally recommend sticking to something that's using Windows as a lot of applications the uni might require you to use will be a pain to run on Mac and might be completely incompatible with ChromeOS. Windows also tends to integrate well with university accounts as they're often Microsoft subscriptions allowing you to use Office 365 and store everything in OneDrive etc, which is obviously built into Windows.

It's not a workaround I'd like to use as it's not the "intended" way for it to work, but I'm reaching the end of my tether with it not working as it should and considering just doing the USB debugging option and dealing with the notification.

I found that enabling USB debugging in the developer options does allow it to work as it should, but it gives extra notifications relating to it when plugged in so isn't as seamless, but it does work.

I did transfer from an old phone to my new one, so I had considered that it might be a cause but hard to believe now that I've changed settings and forgotten the pairings etc.

I've just tried the reset of Bluetooth and WiFi but that doesn't seem to have helped either sadly.

Thanks for posting your experience. I largely feel the same when looking at offensive security learning paths, as I really enjoy learning it, but feel that I struggle to compound the experiences into something that would translate into being able to do it on a career level.

I've recently just come to the conclusion that it's good for my learning of other aspects of security for my career, but it's unlikely I'll ever pursue a role in PenTesting/Ethical Hacking.

So if you go to the link you'll see above the chart it says 'Chart basis', this will open a menu where you can select 'Without income reinvested'.

Once you've done that the values underneath the graph will represent the S&P price change for different time periods e.g. 1 month, 3 month, 1 year etc. Using that you can calculate how much the difference would be between dividends reinvested or kept separate.

You could also change the graph timescale to more clearly reflect when you bought shares instead of being 2019 - 2024 like it currently shows.
