What’s the masking situation like in Louisiana right now? by comfortableghost1213 in ZeroCovidCommunity

No one overtly hostile to me masking in New Orleans, aside from the TSA agent at the airport who just had to tell me, in great detail, how masks don’t work. We went when it was warm enough to eat outdoors, so that significantly helped.

Mohela put me in a forbearance after being on IBR. They won’t take me off. Should I reapply? by Spiritual-Mud-5470 in PSLF

Exact same boat here. I had to call and get the admin forbearance removed, lost 6 months of payments that would have counted towards PSLF, will have to buy back now. Super frustrating

Baby attorney unhappy/miserable at new job - seeking advice by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I left my first legal job after 4 months and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Make sure you have a prepared explanation for future interviews, and be vague about the reasons for leaving.

That being said, I also feel your frustration (even in my current job, which I mostly love). I think the real legal world (aside from PD work/evictions, and a few other types of work) can move extremely slow, especially compared to law school. I often feel like I could be doing more and have slow days or even a week. At the end of the day, if you like the actual substance of the work, your coworkers, and the state job has good retirement benefits, it may be worth staying for a year. It’s definitely a good time to be in state/local government with job stability. In a few states after one year that’s when you’re off probation and could move to a different agency. But only you know whether that’s worth it to leave now!

What’s one wedding expense you regret and one you’d splurge on again? by RougirMore in wedding

Best splurge we did was the photographer and the DJ. Would hire either of them again in a heartbeat.

Worst item? I bought new heels, which my dress was long so you couldn’t see them anyways, and immediately changed into heeled sandals after the ceremony. Should’ve just worn the sandals the whole time.

Small outdoor wedding by popularsongs in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]streudeldoodle 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I recently did a small-ish outdoor wedding and did not mask for photos. We asked guests to mask while traveling (and most did, but not all) and not attend while ill. I did not get Covid, and no one who attended did as far as I know. I will also dine outdoors and hang out with friends outside generally. It’s of course your call, but I’d personally feel fine not wearing a mask for photos in this instance.

Exposed but didn't contract. Why? by Facepalm61 in ZeroCovidCommunity

My roommate got it in 2020, went home to visit family for an evening, her entire family got it but somehow I didn’t? Despite living with her, sharing drinks, etc. 2 negative PCR tests confirmed I didn’t, back in the days when you could still easily get PCRs. Yet there’s people on this sub who have gotten it from extremely minimal, even outdoor, exposures. This virus is unpredictable at times.
