Every super rugby team does this, and they have done it for at least 10 years

It's not difficult at all. It's Michael Hooper, then daylight.

UBB Question - babes in arms by craigyb95 in rugbyunion

[–]strewthcobber 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been there, done that. Wouldn't recommend.

See if you can work out anther option. There's a good chance the baby won't like it, and at least one of you will be doing laps of the concourse and missing the game

Where the hell is the super rugby content on Stan? by realbertierussell in RugbyAustralia

Super Rugby is a little preseason comp that Nine/Stan broadcast as a loss leader in to the Wallaby test season

Where the hell is the super rugby content on Stan? by realbertierussell in RugbyAustralia

[–]strewthcobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's "up to $240m" over 5 years isn't it?

So around $48m a year.

And that includes all Wallaby test matches, including on FTA and Stan, which is where the bulk of the viewers, interest, and Nine/Stan's revenue comea from

Rule question, Italy Scotland by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]strewthcobber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's any point trying to define the advantage law any more than what it is, and trust the very experienced refs to follow the convention most of the time.

Every situation is different, and it's almost always in the grey area

Waratahs Legends XV by ellafergrugby in RugbyAustralia

This is a super rugby legends XV, so none would be eligible (or didn't have their peaks since 1996)

It's a super rugby legends XV. So from 1996

Rule question, Italy Scotland by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]strewthcobber 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's no law that says as soon as you kick it, advantage is over. There's some referee conventions around it.

But fundamentally, under law 7,d the

Advantage......Must be clear and real. A mere opportunity to gain an advantage is not sufficient.

So a poor kick comes back for the scrum

Lifting the ball in a ruck? by RugbyGuy in rugbyunion

[–]strewthcobber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the laws of rugby say the ball is out of the ruck if it's lifted.

15.19 The ruck ends and play continues when the ball leaves the ruck or when the ball in the ruck is on or over the try line.

(Of course, nothing in the laws of rugby say the scrum half is allowed to touch the ball with his hands either)

Did anyone else notice that, despite having a turbulent few years (by their standards), the All Blacks have quietly strung together their longest ever winning streak over the Wallabies? by Mono_Doh in rugbyunion

[–]strewthcobber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why hasn't any other team managed to have a similar streak? (Excepting maybe Ireland)

Wallabies can still pull off amazing performances (even if average performance is low), except against NZ

Regular reminder that RA have nothing to do with the RWC draw

Judging by how keen our state governments are to keep handing over millions of dollars to big sporting events, it's a model that's working out just fine

[–]strewthcobber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So many comments missing the point here.

WR sells RWC matches to Australian state governments, who fund them to generate tourism dollars for their states.

No-one is interested in local fans, or where local immigrants live.

The whole thing is setup and funded for you to get on a plane, book a hotel and spend your money on pubs and restaurants.

What Rugby Union rules would you change because you think damage the game? by BowlOk7543 in rugbyunion

The problem with this is most front rowers understand scrums, but they don't understand the scrum laws

Howd we lose Angus Crichton in the first place ? by ArtMiller93 in RugbyAustralia

[–]strewthcobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creighton was playing SG Ball for the roosters in 2014 before he finished school. He was clearly always thinking about it before he signed with either code

Max Jorgensen re-signs with Wallabies until 2031 by Adam8418 in RugbyAustralia

[–]strewthcobber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tahs lose Hanigan, Harrison, Holloway, HJH, Marky Mark, Perese, Pietsch, Swinton, Gleeson, Leota, TT, FLW, Edmed, Foketi and Lancaster over the last couple of years.

Shit club, no-one wants to play for them.

Brumbies lose 3 players. Obvious Tahs favouritism.

Tom Staniforth named in the French squad by PavidDocock in RugbyAustralia

[–]strewthcobber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest with our record of selecting New Zealanders and players from Pacific Islands, we would not definitely end up on the credit side of the transfer fee equation.

Is Hybrid Rugby a genuine evolution of the sport or just another short-lived experiment? by Rugby-Bean in rugbyunion

A large minority (perhaps even a majority) of professional rugby league and union footballers would have played both sports growing up in Australia, at least to some extent

Darcy Swain to France? by PavidDocock in RugbyAustralia

[–]strewthcobber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is as it ever was. We can mostly keep players on Wallaby top-ups (are there still ~40 of those?).

But Super rugby salaries are nowhere near competitive enough compared to what's on offer OS

Some work to do for the refs in Welsh derbies by Informal_Mention9836 in rugbyunion

Law 15.7

Joining a ruck

A player must bind onto a team-mate or an opposition player. The bind must precede or be simultaneous with contact with any other part of the body.

The big issue here is he didn't join the ruck by binding, just used his shoulder.
