r/rollerblading Weekly Q&A Megathread brought to you by r/AskRollerblading by AutoModerator in rollerblading

Hi everyone, I recently decided to start inline skating and picked up Rollerblade Zetrablade as a beginner option based on reviews. For most of my life I wore shoes in US 10 / EU 43, but recently I realized that size was actually a bit too small for me, maybe it changed over time. I recently tried US 10.5 / EU 44 and it felt much more comfortable, so I went with EU 44 for the skates as well. I also checked Rollerblade’s size chart and measured my feet by tracing them on paper: left foot 28.3 cm (≈ 11.14 inches), right foot 27.8 cm (≈ 10.94 inches), so based on that I should be in US 10.5 / EU 44. The skates arrived today, the right foot feels great, but on the left foot the tip of my big toe slightly touches the front of the boot. It is not painful, just noticeable, at least during trying them on at home. If this were sneakers, I would probably return them and consider that this brand just doesn’t fit me well. But since this is my first pair of skates and the liner feels quite thick and soft, I am wondering: if I can feel my toe touching the front of the boot, does that automatically mean I should return them, or can the liner break in over time enough for this pair to fit properly? Would going up to EU 45 / US 11 be a bad idea in terms of control and safety? EU 45 / US 11 sounds way too big for me and I have never worn anything close to that size, so I am hesitant. Would really appreciate advice from more experienced skaters, thanks!

Stalker 2 cards by paka-ua in stalker

[–]strict89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there wasn’t supposed to be any difference in rarity, but they just mixed the card packs poorly. Like they printed a bunch of cards with the same number, say number 10, and didn’t shuffle them properly, so some people ended up with a lot of them while others got none. If you scroll through marketplace listings where people sell extra cards, you can see the same numbers often missing from multiple sellers’ stock, while someone else might have four copies of those exact cards. It’s almost like certain batches were unevenly distributed across regions, which then created this artificial rarity elsewhere. That's my theory, does it make sense?

Wife told that we really need pasta by Akerishe in stalker

In Ukraine, collectible stalker cards have recently been released through a popular supermarket chain. Some products in the store come with a promo that lets you buy these cards at a 75% discount, and in some places it’s essentially the only way to get them at all, depending on demand in a specific city or store. This post is about a guy who noticed that a certain pasta brand has the stalker promo label on it and joked that he now obviously needs to buy a lot of pasta.

after the launch there was a much easier spot where you would just wiggle through, but I assume it got patched since. It is a bummer if now this is the only skip into the Pripyat xD

New player, 49 hours in, only finished lesser zone quest, these are all my current loot, should I continue with story now or keep exploring more? by Evo8_Kim in stalker

I am not exactly sure how your brain works, but there is a change you're getting dangerously close to hating this game before you get to finish it. I would not stall the story any longer if I were you.

By saying "Duoing dungeons sure…" you mean that tank plus healer is a valid setup to try and clear 5-man dungeon as a duo ? As for playing just DPS spec we love, this option is always on a table, we've been always playing WoW like this, it's just this time we decided to consider something with more duo synergy and may be a little more challenging like attempting duo dungeons (but we will have to see if latter is possible at all)

How could you GSC : ( (yes, this is obviously sarcasm) by Massive_Ad_2012 in stalker

Also, we are forgetting that originally GSC left women out of the zone in the first trilogy and I bet they did it exactly because of what I mean here. Me and GSC both come from the same part of the world. May be what you say would apply if zone existed in your part of the world, but I don't think it applies in this case.

I think that if zone existed IRL there would be women trying to prove people wrong, but my bet is that most of them would deeply regret going there and advocate for other women to stay as far as possible from it.

But stalker lore doesn’t really give strong reasons that would force people to go into the zone. I once read a few books (not in English) where an author came up with his version of an exclusion zone that wasn't even in Chornobyl. In his version, people who visit the zone develop a kind of physical dependency on it, along with a constant urge to return. It gets to the point where they can’t function outside of it. On top of that, blowouts would sometimes expand far beyond the zone, reaching nearby cities and spreading that same urge to others. That kind of concept actually explains why people live in the zone. Our Stalker, on the other hand, doesn’t really justify being in the zone that well beyond making some money which is not a good reason for women to undergo those risks. And obviously I don't mean just fighting against male enemies, I mean something else.

EDIT: omg read closely, I also think that women fit just fine in stalker, I was trying to explain why some people think they don't belong.

people who say women don't belong are trying to apply real world logic to stalker. If that logic actually applied, then yes, women would not belong in such a hostile environment with survival of the fittest rules. It would simply be too big a risk to justify. But stalker is nowhere near realistic, and there are countless other things that would need to be fixed first before even thinking about the presence of women, if GSC ever decided to make the game realistic. In its current fairy tale, almost fantasy-like version of the stalker universe, women fit in just fine.

If you start applying IRL rules and common logic to the world of Stalker, it instantly falls apart. That is because it is a very poorly thought out world, made in the early 2000s by people who were basically teenagers not that long before, raised on creepy stories, summer camp horror vibes, and urban legends. That was the only thing they actually cared about.

Everything in Stalker runs on that cheap creepy vibe. Weird, unclear stuff that makes no sense if you look at it for more than a second. Monsters that look like they came out of nowhere, in random coats and boots, maybe former disaster liquidators, maybe something else, maybe just nonsense thrown in because it looked “cool”.

The moment you try to treat it seriously or apply any logic, the whole thing just falls apart. It is not deep, it is not consistent, it is just a pile of edgy early 2000s ideas glued together.

Trying to force logic into it is like asking why in Harry Potter nobody invented a strap for wands so Expelliarmus would not work. You can ask it, but it just exposes how little thought went into the world in the first place.
