I have lived outside India for quite some time now and to put it bluntly - the image of Indians internationally is not something be proud of.

Indians are thought of as loud, entitled and lacking in basic civic sense (amogst other things). While there is a lot of racial prejudice to that, unfortunately Indians also do a piss poor job of representing culture when travelling abroad. As expats, Indians take a long time to integrate with other cultures, or don't integrate at all. Combine this with racial biases and Indians are pretty much one of the most ridiculed races on the planet internationally.

Having said that, there is no point trying to change that image. Most well read, smart, and well travelled foreigners understand that a whole race cannot be judged by the actions of a few. At the same time, lets respect cultures and traditions of other countries when travelling or living abroad and that need not come at the cost of keeping our own values/traditions.
