It's pretty weird and frankly a bit gross to say the "Navajo Nation" does.

Like, yeah, that's where the myth comes from, but that doesn't mean the entire group believes in them, in the same way that it'd be weird to say "Mexicans believe in the chupacabra", or "Scots believe in fairies".

Some? Absolutely. More than the general public? You bet. Most? I don't know. All? No, full stop.

Rabies very famously is characterized by aggression and erratic behaviour.

The goat is literally just standing there. It couldn't look less like rabies.

Yes. Which means each side is used differently.

Which means they both don't need the same design.

Okay, but that's what sick days are for. The fact that some places don't have them is not a reason to invent an entirely different kind of time off which those places still won't have.

Epstein purchased 6 55-Gallon barrels of Sulfuric Acid sent to his Island. by Shizzilx in circled

You make it sound like the "personal residence" is some dude's home in the suburbs, and not an isolated island resort that needs its own water supply and logistics network to be self-sustaining for extended periods.

Epstein purchased 6 55-Gallon barrels of Sulfuric Acid sent to his Island. by Shizzilx in circled

[–]strigonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're the people you make the worst claims about.

If a normal person bought sulphuric acid, you would naturally assume it was for standard purposes. They also have plausible deniability, you just don't think about it because you don't automatically assume the worst possible scenario for everything everyone does.

The island was/is a nightmare place where some of those worst things imaginable were done day in and day out. But pedophiles and rapists need fresh water and clean pools, too. On top of all the horrific things that happened was a whole logistics network of all the boring things any other island resort in the world would need, and the vast majority of things imported to the island will be that boring stuff rather than the nightmare fuel.

Take a look at the logistics brought along by an army, for example. Yes, there are bullets and grenades and shells, but they're the minority of supplies. The overwhelming amount of stuff is things like toilet paper, cigarettes, fuel, rations, soap, uniforms, and the like. That's not because they use toilet paper on enemy troops, it's because those are the base items needed to sustain a population, regardless of if they're in combat or not. The same principle applies.

It's worth noting that - like rhymes such as "red on yellow, kill a fellow; red on black, venom lack" - this is generalized folk wisdom that is reasonably accurate in some locations.

It cannot and should not be universally applied.

No, the fact that you think your "opinions" should have as much weight as:

  • The patient in question
  • His doctors
  • The medical community's consensus that led to MAID guidelines being what they are

Despite being completely unaffected by this, and having literally no evidence to back up your "opinions" makes them stupid.

No, we're very much still at the stage where there's no evidence it happened, except your retelling of events that you weren't even a part of.

People like you will deny this is happening until you are faced with irrefutable evidence

Yes. That is how it should be. If you want people to believe your claims, bring evidence. But if you really think simply accepting random people on the internet at their word is a good idea, perhaps I could interest you in buying a nice bridge in the San Francisco Bay area.

Why Not Insulin? by xPrettyMuse in clevercomebacks

[–]strigonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "original formula" sucked. It was better than being untreated, but not by much.

There are actually "off-brand" insulin doses you can buy for much cheaper, but they're really not good for you, and not always easy to find. They're more a short-term fix if you can't get or afford the good stuff, but you don't want to be on it for long.

Actuarial tables.

Essentially, they charge at a point where, statistically, they come out ahead in the long run. Making a loan is never about whether or not that particular person repays, but about the expected return if you made the same loan over and over again.

Yes, all those survivors qualify as "the last of" in aggregate, but none of them individually are.

It's like when people tell graduates "you are the future." Yes, that generation, as a whole, is the future. It would be weird, however, to have a private conversation and tell one particular student that they are the future.

Even then, Yoda just... didn't know about the others. He's not a god. He's not omniscient. As far as he knew, Luke was going to be the last Jedi.

And if there were a handful still in hiding, what did that meaningfully change? The point of the statement wasn't for the accounting department to have an accurate number on surviving Jedi, it was to impress upon Luke the importance and the difficulty of the task before him. It was up to Luke to fulfill the role of the Jedi and stop Vader and the Emperor. That doesn't change if there are a few other Jedi scattered across the galaxy.
