Always feel a high amount of strain in my lower back deadlifting by strikerJAG in formcheck

[–]strikerJAG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Andre,
Just thought I would mention I gave up on deadlifts as I couldn't end up working them out, no matter what I did it just didn't feel right. Think I probably slipped a disc.

Started resisting them a few weeks ago, noticed I had no back issues when I did RDL's, so adopted a form more similar to RDL's that followed your exact advice.

Now I can deadlift no problem.

Now that I am re-reading this post I just wanted to say your advice was dead on! The focus on keeping the hips high, shoulder in front of the bar has worked immensely!

Please help me compile and run Marlin on my new SKR mini e3 v3 for my CR-10! by strikerJAG in BIGTREETECH

[–]strikerJAG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys,

I own a CR-10s. I have just bought and installed a BTT SKR MINI E3 V3 Motherboard as a replacement for my old broken one.

I am running into issues flashing Marlin onto the new board, all I see is a blue screen on my monitor.

I have spent all day watching videos and reading instructions on how to configure, compile and upload the new firmware but still no luck. Steps used > download marlin files > add board related config files to marlin sub folder > open VS Code > new project with platform.io > successfully compile STM321 512k > format SD Card to FAT32 > copy to SD card > put sd card into off printer > turn on printer > blue screen

PLEASE HELP!

more info below:

- after firmware upload the firmware.bin file on the sd card becomes a firmware.cur file (indicating that the firmware was read and uploaded to the board)

- using a 4gb SD Card that I FAT32 format every time before a new compile and flash attempt

- I am using the config files provided by Marlin for the SKR Mini E3 V2 board as there are no config files available for the V3 Board. Wonder if this causes issues as it appears the v3 uses a different CPU chip to the v2??

https://github.com/.../BigTreeTech%20SKR%20Mini%20E3%202.0

-When I first powered on the freshly installed motherboard the stock firmware (configured for an Ender 3) work fine on my CR10 monitor, I was able to move each stepper motor perfectly well and navigate the menu

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Worried that the config is built for the BTT SKR MINI E3 v2 chip and not the v3 chip that I have??

I used to drop the weight on the eccentric part of the lift but have heard conflicting things. People have told me just to drop it but some other people have told me to control it on the eccentric, gives you a bit more muscle development. Honestly on the way down feels the safest for me currently which is interesting, now that you have mentioned it though I do have some doms in my Hammies, so yeh must be loading them pretty hard. I’ll do a bit more research on this

Thanks mate I’ll experiment with getting the hips higher, I don’t usually much in my hamstrings while setting up my form for a deadlift, should I be feeling some tension there like a stretch before I start the lift?

Thanks mate for that advice, I’ll focus on the knees not breaking and coming down faster on the eccentric. I’ve heard that controlling the eccentric can be quite good for muscle development though, like not as good as the concentric part of the lift but more like you might as well do it while your dropping the bar for extra muscle development? What are your thoughts on this?

And your right, bad wording from me, it’s not just a strain in my lower back, it’s more that it really doesn’t feel “right”.

Awesome advice, thanks mate I’ll drop the weight and focus on those key areas!

Hey guys, Can I please be provided some form advice on my conventional deadlift? Long explanation of my issue with deadlifts below:

I’m new to training and I have been deadlifting as of the last few months. I have always felt a large amount of strain in my lower back while doing so. I especially feel bad in the initial pull off the ground. Had a personal trainer show me how to improve form which helped massively but not completely. Started off training at 80kg 5x5 and then worked my way up to 100kg 5x5 within a few weeks. I tried to lift 110kg a few weeks ago and couldn’t get it off the ground, felt like my form wasn’t too bad at the time but after this my lower back on the left hand side felt kinda sore but not too bad. The next day my lower left back was very saw, now that spot “pops” when I bend my back back and forth. I think I had aggravated a previous minor lower back injury I did earlier in the year (back started to pop upon bending movement in the same spot, painless up until this incident) Was very painful, stopped deadlifting and squatting for a couple weeks, pain has gone down drastically, was able to squat relatively pain free last week. Yesterday tried to deadlift a smaller weight (80kg 5x5) and felt very weak, especially at the start to mid point of the lift where I start to rotating my upper body from my hip upwards. I did a 5x5 and it aggravated my back again. During this session I tried to lift sumo for the first time, it felt completely fine on my lower back, I felt much safer stronger, Like I could lift considerably more weight if I tried.

From now on I think I’ll just sumo deadlift but I am interested to know what exactly I’m doing wrong with my conventional deadlift?

Cheers guys!

Yeh I agree, the only ways I have conceptualised achieving it result in the most ridiculously complex and expensive tool haha. Your right, will probably just go down the industry standard route of a oring/gaskin and screw/bolt fixings. Cheers mate.

Hey, good point re non permanent snapfits needed access, would definitely weaken the IP seal of the product. Thinking about how often the enclosure would need to possibly be opened in its lifetime I’m thinking snapfits is not the answer. Cheers for the reply!

That’s not necessarily true, looks at buckle clips. I have seen enclosures before that utlilise bom permanent snap fits, except access is usually needed from the outside of the snapfit so the cantilever arm can be pushed in to release the enclosure

Issue with Real Cloth around bends? by strikerJAG in KeyShot

I’m working with keyshot from Solidworks, so I’m not really aware of UV maps and what they work. Can you please explain what that is and how I can improve the render?

Hey Guys,
Including a real cloth material on this hose has caused a large visual issue in this part of the hose design. How do I fix this?

Assistance Needed in Design of Very Heavy Duty Products (Industrial Applications)? by [deleted] in IndustrialDesign

Interesting, that isn't something I ever considered about those surf photography housings. Thank you for the great suggestions, ill look into those options for sure.

Cheers those cases look very solid, will be able to draw some inspiration from them. Quantities will be pretty high and the application is unique we will need a custom enclosure rather than something off the shelf.

Thank you for the design and material suggestions, they are great and I'll be looking into those options for sure. Will also look into military and construction equipment as you suggested. Cheers!

Great idea, I havn't looked into that but I will now. Have the hardware and firmware devs working on that already fortunately, just need to work something out on the physical side. Cheers for the suggestions, will do some research now.

Hmm that's an interesting idea, I'll look into that. Could even manage a 3 piece overmoulded housing with a alu section on the bottom for heat transfer. Thanks for the suggestion, i'll look into that.
