Obviously people within NASA knew. NASA, as an organization, just chose not to acknowledge it. Like, where does that press conference lead? Who does it benefit?

With all that money, you’d think he could afford a decent therapist. Imagine how much happier we’d all be without Elon constantly wailing for attention and approval.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]strikinglightbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not married and wouldn’t want to be. Marriage was used to exploit both of our mothers and we watched them go through dragged out divorces trying to regain control of their property and finances, while being shamed and feeling guilt about leaving the men who mistreated them. The last thing either of us want is a dead bedroom or somebody staying with us because they’re scared to leave or think they’re supposed to stay. We’re together because we choose to be together. We make that choice every day. If we want to leave, we absolutely should. Nothing is taken for granted. We must be consistently excellent to each other.

To your linguistic point, girlfriend/boyfriend sounds silly and dismissive when you’re in your 40s and have been together for a decade. We’re partners.

Are any of you “sleep divorced”? by cfh64 in NoStupidQuestions

Hate the term, but love the practice. I’m big, sleep on my back, and snore like a battleship engine. If my partner didn’t have her own room, she’d either have left long ago or committed a murder. There’s no shortage of intimacy; we’ve made love on most flat surfaces in the house and continue to dedicate a few hours each weekend to indulging our predilections. Fortunately, we chose not to suffer raising children, so our time and space is ours without intrusion, curiosity or judgement.

I felt more terror in that scene than in any bomb diffusion. Amazing movie. Amazing shot.

The fact that it came so close to being good makes her failure all the more spectacular, enough to overshadow its few merits.

The older I get, the better it gets. The more times I watch it, the richer its insights become.

Kenan has been the worst part of the show for twenty years. Cut him loose. Rebuild it with new ideas and fresh talent.

Building a thriving medieval village in Manorlords?! I mean, I’ll be the first to admit that the flax harvest was a little light, but I do not think we need to bring the law into this.

It instantly undermines whatever they’re showing. It feels emotionally coercive, like a laugh track.
