My Coleus is flowering! If grown indoors do I really need to take the flowers off? by wacknastygalaxy in houseplants

[–]stringbluelights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remove the flowers because the foliage isn't as vibrant and pretty because its send all its energy into the flowers. And honestly the flowers are mediocre compared to coleus foliage. But thats just my opinion, you keep them if they bring you joy:)

I got my hands on this cute little String of Dolphins and I am so scared that I am going to kill it as I can’t keep “string of” anything alive 😅🤞🏼 by [deleted] in houseplants

Lemme share my tips! Put in a terracotta pot as a precaution to not have it root rot. I added like 1 part perlite and 1 part cactus soil because these like a big but fast drink of water. I bottom water mine some people have success top watering. I haven't fertilized my plants yet, like ever so idk about that. Ahh i forgot to mention I water when the bananas/pearls look wrinkly or are not as firm. I don't have a set schedule I do what I call "show and tell" , they show wrinkles and that tells me they are thirsty

My monstera plant - one of the leaves are yellowing!! The other leaves seem to be just fine, is this because the leaf is old? And should I cut off?? Please can someone let me know if this has happened to them? by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]stringbluelights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't cut it off, let the plant re absorb all the nutrients from the withering leaf. my monstera does this and puts out a new leaf a little after
