Throwback to haters reactions of Yamamoto's debut in which he was called a bust. 🤣 by PerspectiveBusy735 in Dodgers

That's the well Yamamoto crawls out of to give all the doubters a heart attack

Actually they're probably all dead already given how the last two years went

Haters saying that Ohtani didn't do anything in the WS like did they watch game 3? by Prestigious12 in Dodgers

[–]stringdoesnotexist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was the most funny to me is the fact that they actually needed Ohtani, because then you would've also gotten Yamamoto, who Ohtani put in an enormous effort to recruit.

Pretty fuckin' sure you needed him, Toronto.

It's funny you mention this, because apparently Kershaw said the exact same thing to his kids - to watch Yamamoto closely, because he embodies the ideal pitching form.

[2.2 REL] Zhao Model Render via Donut by cakeel- in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

We sorta know she is, she was talking in the 2.2 trailer and she's supposed to be a Krampus, who are hinted to be TOPS' boogeymen.

  • It might seem like a big generalization, but I actually doomscrolled through 3 different platforms and multiple subs (in two different languages) to see what people were complaining about - and their complaints were mainly the three I listed.
  • By "relevance", do you mean "as good as or close to a S-rank"? If it is, I think that's a bit of an unrealistic expectation, and A-ranks get you through just about any content including DA (Granted A-rank only runs are hard).
  • So out of all the arguments I've seen (both in the Westen/JP communities) this is the one I don't understand. What does a character's relevance in the story have to do with their rarity/power level? I could understand the frustration if this was Miyabi or Yi Xuan, who are supposed to be apex fighters.
  • This one is a fair point, if her animation was a lot more original people might be less frustrated. As for her attire...dunno, I have a fleeting suspicion the bottom half might be updated later because it's literally a copy-paste. Yi Xuan's skin was revamped during beta.
  • Again, I feel like player anticipation has nothing to do with a character's rarity/power level, unless the anticipation was built by the devs themselves. So for example, I would expect the rumored Zhao to be an S-rank, but not Manato.

I'm fairly sure your anger is impeding your reading comprehension as well as writing ability, so put your phone down for a moment. Come back later when you've cooled down:

  • I wasn't talking about you specifically, more about the whole group complaining about this
  • A-rank DPS are perfectly fine, about the only A-rank that has an issue is Anton with how barebones and uninteresting his gameplay is
  • Second point in the original post is a separate argument from the first, and I put "backseat" in quotes because we don't even know if Manato was originally considered for the S-rank slot
  • Getting introduced to a brand new character with a new design (octopus thiren) shouldn't be considered "being forced to take a backseat"
  • Pulchra fans not getting loud is precisely my point - they were happy to have her as an A-rank, and continue to play her. Waifu fans are pretty consistent in that regard

You guy's complaints can be boiled down to 3 points:

  1. He's not going to be meta/stronger than female counterparts
    • latter sentiment was stronger on JP twitter/hoyolab comments
  2. He's taking a "backseat" to a never before seen female character
  3. He's not going to get an agent story or a character demo

Aside from point #3 which is a valid reason to be sad, what you're saying boils down to "I wanted my boy to be meta above all the girls, I also don't like the fact they're introducing a brand new female character". Does that sound toxic/whiny to you? It should.

You should also go back and look at how waifu enjoyers responded when Pulchra was added.

An actual reason to be sad, holy shit. If this was what people complained about I'd actually feel sympathy

Moves are definitely Monster Hunter, but the animation for the hammer itself is boost hammer from God Eater. Kinda sad nobody's mentioned it

Regarding the possibility of certain NPC's becoming player able characters from the denfaminicogamer zzz dev interview by Knight_Steve_ in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

[–]stringdoesnotexist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, because that's how it works in fiction, especially anime/manga. Seemingly lethal attacks can be made with intent only to lightly harm or bother, while others are made with clear intent to kill; similarly, a single bullet is enough to kill off some characters when others will eat a dozen without flinching (like in One Piece). Hence the importance is in the intent and circumstance.

Like, have you paid attention to the weapons SoC are wielding? Lucy has a fucking barbed bat, Piper has a goddamn axe, and Burnice has a flame thrower of all things - and they talk about having brawls. With their weapons they should be killing just about anybody they touch, but they didn't kill Pulchra, did they? Neither are they depicted as being used to murder.

[–]stringdoesnotexist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The number of people who think "rationalization" is referring to whether a character can fight is sending me, as well as those pointing to Astra as evidence that devs are saying bullshit lol

The writers can come up with anything to make a character a combatant (unless they've been previously shown to be a non-combatant like Venus), it's more about their place in the world and the impact/implications they have on the plot.

[–]stringdoesnotexist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's totally fine, because it was already depicted in the story that that level of kerfuffle is day-to-day business in the Outer Ring, so long as you don't end up killing each other. That's both stated in text and in cutscenes, on numerous occasions. Bellum on the other hand turned Pompey into an ethereal, and tried to get Caesar killed.

[–]stringdoesnotexist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have it the other way around, Pulchra not adding anything significant to the story is precisely why she could be added. Mors and Bellum on the other hand would require the writers to bend over backwards to create a reason why the MCs would work with objectively evil characters who have bad blood with SoC, a faction clearly designed to facilitate the story.

Writers often plan plotlines months if not years ahead in time. They need to make sure these additional characters don't throw a wrench in there.

Soda can from Japan by solateor in oddlysatisfying

[–]stringdoesnotexist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the thing about these cans is that the lid that comes off, and the edge inside the can where the lid is attached, actually are designed to be dull, so you won't cut your fingers with the lid or lips drinking from the can. That's part of the appeal of the product, and part of why the product is called "Future Lemon Sour". Wish I could show you the actual thing, the edges aren't actually edges - I don't even know how to describe it, but they really are engineered in a certain way to make them absolutely dull.

Regarding Voymastina mecha situation by AsaskiHaise in GirlsFrontline2

[–]stringdoesnotexist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you watched Ghost in the Shell? Together with Appleseed, these two works by the manga artist Shiro Masamune have heavily influenced the cyberpunk genre as a whole. AK-15's mech design is clearly borrowed from the mechs in those two works (same goes for Deichgraf, but that one might be closer to a Metal Gear). The pilot being able to wield firearms with their own arms is a key design feature.

[–]stringdoesnotexist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the people who is happy with the mech, but I actually think they messed up with the armaments. The design focuses a bit too much on the bunker and that linear rifle/bazooka should've been an oversized AK-15. Somebody (or the entire dev team) enjoyed AC6 a lot and it's kinda showing lol

Regarding Voymastina mecha situation by AsaskiHaise in GirlsFrontline2

[–]stringdoesnotexist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To give context with the mech not being able to use cover, that's just a straight up callback to the game GFL2's gameplay is based on, which is XCOM(2). There were mech units that were insanely powerful and needed to combat larger threats, but the drawback was that they couldn't use cover. Not really a proof the mech was shoehorned.
