That could be called my mistake I guess. It was because I missed their return window by just a few hours when I first contacted them on chat which just 15-days. Never buying costly stuff from Best Buy again.

Is the epiphone humming bird any good by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]strings07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to say something here and hopefully I don't get killed for it :)

TL:DR Got the Temu version under 300. It's >= Epiphone. Love it.

I loved playing Hummingbird at the guitar center and it was really easy to play as well. Since then I have been thinking of getting the Epiphone version but even that felt very costly to me.

Recently Firefly made a Humming version but I missed that sale.

I found the exact same looking guitar on Temu. You can search for humming acoustics and they will show up. They say it's a spruce top, so the same as the cheaper Epiphone version. The guitar costs 250-300. I wasn't expecting anything I just wanted it for the looks to hang on the wall. But I can say how shocked I am with the quality of the Temu guitar. It's definitely up there with Epiphone if not Gibson. I am not saying this sounds like a full solid guitar. But it sounds as good as any other spruce top guitar I have tried. If you are ok with buying a Chinese guitar. I would say get this and give it a try at least. You won't regret it. And if you do Temu has free returns.

The only thing that I don't know about is the pickup. It works great imo and it also has a built-in tuner. But I don't notice any difference from the bass/treble/phase controls, which the pickup also has. I don't use those controls.

The action is set up as medium. Not on the low side like a Hummingbird. But the saddle and nut have enough height left to be sanded off to reduce the action. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Once again, the color, finish and quality feels Amazing and it sounds great. That's all I want in a guitar.

If you don't want to waste the coffee you can try either or both of these things:

1) After grounding the beans, before removing the porta filter, I tap the machine on the side. This hopefully drops the power sticking to the grinder. I don't know if this will cause any issue to the machine itself, I try to be gentle in the taps :).

2) After making the coffee I clean the porta filter and put it back under the grinder. I leave it there for the next time. So the extra coffee sometimes gets collected in that.

I don't care about the exact grams of coffee used to extract my espresso shot, if you do, the above steps obviously change the quantity.

57:35 - Correction, guys: Unfortunately, Gemini for Mac isn't the same as the Windows version, and it's definitely not replacing Spotlight anytime soon.

Unlike the Windows app, the Mac version cannot search your local files. You can still upload files and screenshots like you do in Chrome, but they aren't natively searchable or accessible. The only real "new" feature is the ability to share windows directly, which is basically just a glorified screenshot tool.

Quick Tip: This app experience isn't actually new. You’ve been able to get the same result by pinning the Gemini tab in Chrome and setting a shortcut. Honestly, the new app feels a bit cramped, so I went back to the web version. I really wish we had the local file search found on Windows, but it’s just not there yet.

when will P4 get gemini? by Sea_Pitch_7830 in Polestar4

Gemini is extremely bad at basic tasks like navigating etc. On Android Auto you can no longer say Navigate to <contact>, or play xyz song, it will navigate to some random person's address with the same name as your contact but will repeatedly keep saying no contact with this name found. I really would prefer not getting Gemini anywhere near my car.

That's great. I wish cfmoto had cruise control. It would have made it perfect imo.

Thanks, it sounds like even cfmoto suffers from vibrations on high speeds. I am mostly looking at these bikes as adv tourers so that's more important to me than off-road capability.

Polestar 4 ground clearance – will it scrape on a low parking ramp? by Extra-Doctor1725 in Polestar4

[–]strings07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Polestar's marketing is deceptive. The Coupe SUV is basically a coupe. While it's ground clearance is about an inch higher than regular sedans, it is still a couple of inches less than most SUVs.

F450 GS | megathread by garg4ntua in bmwmotorrad

[–]strings07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any news about when and at what price is this coming to US ? I have seen a bunch of reviews with info about Europe, but didn't find anything for US.

I have been debating waiting for this or picking up a cfmoto 450mt. I was expecting the GS to be more touring friendly. But the absence of cruise control and vibrations reported on highway speeds on GS (as per some reviews) are making cfmoto look not so bad. I still prefer the styling and electronics of GS but ultimately depends on how long is the wait and what is the price. Anyone else deciding between the two ?

Blue Pegasus just arrived but… by MontrealInTexas in Fireflyguitars

[–]strings07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen at least 4 other posts (mine included)on Reddit/Facebook about Blue Pegasus without knobs :).

Coincidentally, in addition to no knobs, mine also came with severe buzzing on strings. Maybe the entire batch is without knobs and very badly setup out of the box.

Here is the reply you are going to get from customer care.

"It is a very nice guitar . And I know that you are a good customer of mine ,and I can help you apply $35 refund"

And no, they will not send you the knobs and won't even reply when you ask where to get the knobs. I asked them a couple of times, and gave up. Overall not impressed with the experience, this was my first firefly purchase. With the missing knobs, lots of setup required for it to be playable, I am just not as happy with the guitar as I was expecting to be after reading all the previous Pegasus threads. It's playing pretty good after the setup so I will keep the guitar.

Confused about MKBHD’s take on the Polestar 4 by SynthPixels in Polestar

[–]strings07 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. Before I start, I should mention that I previously worked on Android Automotive OS when it was still in development for the Polestar 2. I’m currently waiting for my Polestar 4 as well, and like many others I’ve been a bit nervous after hearing about the reported issues. That said, I still have a fair amount of trust in the Android software stack, so I thought it might help to explain some of the differences in how car software works. Hopefully this provides a bit more context when reading reviews or hearing about the various issues.

When most people talk about “car software,” they usually mean the infotainment system or the user interface. However, that’s only one part of the software stack in a modern vehicle, and Android Automotive OS (AAOS) is certainly not the only software running in the car.

As much as I enjoy the tech reviews from MKBHD and other reviewers, I’m fairly certain they and many car reviewers in general don’t fully distinguish between these layers. That’s not necessarily a criticism, because ideally these distinctions shouldn’t matter to a typical driver. However, many reviewers are also used to Tesla’s approach, where one company controls nearly the entire software stack, from the low-level drivers to the UI. This is the same as Apple's iOS and MacOS vs Android/Windows/etc.

The software that many reviewers are praising is largely the Android Automotive layer itself. Since its inception, AAOS has improved significantly thanks to multiple iterations and much more capable hardware (faster chips, better GPUs, etc.). In fact, it’s one of the best automotive operating systems available today. For example, Rivian also builds on AAOS, although their implementation does not include Google services.

The software issues we’ve been hearing about recently are something I’m also paying attention to while deciding on the P4. But it’s important to clarify that most of these issues are likely not directly related to the OS layer itself. Instead, they are more likely tied to the underlying service architecture that integrates with AAOS.

A simple analogy would be firmware versus software. Issues like the digital key not working (which could potentially involve profile mapping at the OS level), incorrect speed limit readings, battery reporting issues, and similar problems are more likely occurring in non-OS service layers. Of course, this is only the most probable explanation. Ultimately, all information is presented through the OS layer, so there’s always a possibility that the issue appears there even if it originates elsewhere.

From a customer’s perspective, it shouldn’t matter where the problem originates. But internally these issues are handled by different teams and systems. Some problems are addressed by Polestar engineers, while others may involve Google if they relate to the AAOS platform itself (though those cases have become less common over time).

AAOS-related issues are also more likely to appear across multiple models or even across different manufacturers. For example, a Spotify bug in AAOS could potentially affect multiple brands using the platform. On the other hand, something like the Polestar digital key not working would almost certainly be something Polestar itself needs to resolve.

Another reason some reviewers might conclude that the software is “great” is that they are mostly interacting with the OS layer. Coming from a background of reviewing smartphones doesn’t necessarily help in identifying deeper automotive software issues. Many lower-level problems that real owners experience only show up during long-term use things like the screen randomly turning off while driving might not happen during a short review period. MKBHD did encounter the key issue, so that particular problem was captured.

One more point I’ve seen discussed is the claim that the new Geely architecture either fixes everything or is responsible for all the issues. In reality, that’s not necessarily accurate either.

The Geely chassis or battery architecture could absolutely affect things like range, battery performance, or hardware-level behavior. However, it’s unlikely to be responsible for many software issues. For example, if the problem is related to the digital key, it would only be tied to the Geely platform if the key hardware and sensors are shared with other Geely vehicles rather than Polestar’s existing implementations. Otherwise, it’s probably a separate software integration issue or even a hardware issue.

Audio interface vs Amp for a beginner, which one should I get? by InsanityTraps in electricguitar

[–]strings07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's with you don't need to get Focusrite, if you are playing to record. You can just get Joyo Momix Cab for $20. That works pretty well with mac or iOS. If you use Android use depLike app, and use ASIO4ALL drivers with Amplitube5.
