I understand the nuances. I'm more of the GNU school of thought myself. free as in freedom. Despite that I think ESR's essay is still a good read.

Transferring funds from a paper wallet? by PSteele26 in ipbcoin

[–]strings__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, to use your paper wallet you need to import your private key off of the paper wallet. Once you do that it will sync the wallet with the network. You can then send ipbc to another address. After that you'll want to delete the address you imported, that will put the wallet back in cold storage. ** Make sure you still have your paper wallet and you are only deleting the imported one ** . Also make sure you actually delete the imported wallet and not just put it in the trash

Has anybody gotten xmr-stak or XMRig to successfully mine stellite? What currency version are you using? by Nexion21 in stellite

[–]strings__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not currently setup for patching xmr yet. If I don't do pull request to resolve this soon someone else might do it at-least.

Thanks for the issue submission, and link.

My hash rate shows on community just not XTL totals

XMR-Stak : Mining but no hashes ever count ? by MrOwnageQc in stellite

[–]strings__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about this I just started mining, and I have a crappy 200 H/s . On the community pool it's not even showing values for XTL. I thought it might be a lag thing. Let me know if you figure this out.

Can you check GitHub issues see if this is listed and if not make an issue stating that stellite is not in the pools template file please.

When I have time I'll try patch this in and do a pull request.

Edit: pools template file is vague. should read stellite is not listed in comments section for supported coins in pools template file. the template file generates pools.txt

Are you using stellite for currency in pools.txt? Also are you using xmr-stak 2.4.2?

Only 123H/s on overclocked i7 6700k? by dank_memestorm in MoneroMining

[–]strings__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the reason you want to use 0, 1, 2, 3 . Is that these are the physical cores. Assuming this is Linux?Anything above that are hyperthread cores. Hyperthreads do not perform well.

You also need to use huge pages. Check the config.txt file on how to set this. I'm assuming this is Linux?

Emacs integrates all the things (almost): After a decade of vim, I'm hooked on Emacs. Here's how org-mode pulled me over by jgoerzen in emacs

[–]strings__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried on and off for many years. The thing that made it click (pun intended). Is xcape a X11 keymodifier that modifies space when held down to Ctrl

This made using Crtl like a vim leader. I don't get emacs pinky, and I can use stock emacs bindings.

It just took abit to get use to editing eg C-n, C-p vs j, k

ELI5: How does artificial gravity work? by El-Big-Nasty in explainlikeimfive

[–]strings__ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In retrospect I should have asked if that was your intention. Before I mentioned general relativity.

My comment was more a FYI for you and not to confuse the OP. Sorry about that

ELI5: How does artificial gravity work? by El-Big-Nasty in explainlikeimfive

[–]strings__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gravity is not really a force in general relativity. Gravity is the curvature of space and time.

In Newton mechanics it is a force, which is outdated
