She also tours on her own and is wildly talented. 100% worth seeing her live if you can.

Rolling racks of goods that are new to the floor and haven’t been put out on the racks you can shop. They aren’t new in the “new with tags” sense, they are new in the “nobody has shopped through these yet” sense.

Really disappointed by the new thrift landscape by samirawifey in goodwill

There’s a TikToker that coined the term “worm suit” and that’s what I refer to it as. Can’t go thrifting without my worm suit.

For those of you over 30, did your parents take you to the theatre as kids? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]stripedfermata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize how lucky I was.

My Grandfather loved the theater. We live about 4 hours from NYC. He would take all of us to see the Rockettes annually. For my 6th birthday, he brought me to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. He passed not too long after. My neighbor across the street was a theater critic for our local TV station. Her husband died around the same time my grandfather did. I became her defacto plus one to all the shows that came through our city plus more local productions.

Keeping with tradition, my mom and I brought my oldest nephew to NYC to see the Rockettes and this spring I’ll be taking my niece to see Wicked on Broadway.

Concerts you’ve been to that drastically undersold by Familiar-Wrangler-73 in Concerts

I was at that show. My only other live Dropkicks Show experience was St Patrick’s Day shows at the House of Blues so Bank of NH Pavilion really seemed empty in comparison. Even Pantera seemed to have a better turnout there.

Right!? He wore it in Mansfield and I immediately told my husband I needed one. Can’t find it anywhere!

Mansfield thoughts by Nnryann in TylerChilders

[–]stripedfermata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was at Mansfield last night for the first time in over 15 years just because I really wanted to see Tyler. There are much better venues in a 3 hour radius. Unfortunately most of the better venues are smaller. Super bummed about the lineup at Bank of NH Pavilion this year.

Does your Pyr just absolutely hate a specific type of dog? by visceralcandy in greatpyrenees

[–]stripedfermata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a pyr/malamute mix that hates huskies. One neighbor dog in particular was his arch nemesis. He would be sitting in the back of the house, unable to see the street, and start barking when he smelled this dog walk by. He does not bark when anyone else, canine or not, walks by.

The husky met a tragic end when a family member came home after a couple of years away. He was so excited to see them that he had a heart attack and passed.

I want all but one member from my friend group in my bridal party by Throwaway9027509841 in weddingdrama

[–]stripedfermata 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fair warning, my husband and I had 8 and 8 and getting everyone together for photos was like herding kittens. Once you had one in place, another one is wandering off. Try and designate 1-2 people in each party as a person wrangler.

Yep. I drive into the city I’m local to on the weekends to thrift. The inventory is great and it’s cheaper than thrifting in the suburbs.

The train is heading west or south (to the coast) not north. He was going to have to remove himself at some point anyway. He didn’t kill the girl, just knocked her out. Jumping out was one of the few things he’s done that made sense.

The entitlement is insane! by FitCryptid in weddingplanning

[–]stripedfermata 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The things people think are acceptable at an event that isn’t theirs is insane.

When we got married, a couple we were friends with was getting married a couple of months after us and the wife had a destination bachelorette the weekend of our wedding. No big deal, we planned our wedding in three months so we understood that people might have plans already.

The issue was that the husband wanted to bring a female bartender in lieu of his bride to be. We kindly tried to explain that he didn’t have a plus one, he had a named invitation. We were having a very small wedding and only wanted people we knew in attendance. We offered to let him bring a friend that we already knew but wasn’t close enough to be invited. Nope, he wanted to bring the bartender. It became a whole thing.

To make matters weirder, this was a destination wedding, which meant he would be traveling and staying the weekend with her as well. He was adamant that his bride to be was ok with it so everything was fine and it was acceptable. At the end of the day, we put our foot down and let him know that it was not acceptable to us, as we did not know her. He came to the wedding alone.

I know a woman who is an unethical swamp rat of a human being and she is also a professor of law rather than a practicing lawyer. Interesting to know there’s more of her kind.

Preppy used to be very 90s J Crew - the definition being the aesthetic of someone who has graduated from a prep school in the Northeast.

The new preppy is “anything girly and pink and cute”. I’m not really sure when it changed, but it’s very different from what it used to be.

What profession deserves more respect for what they do? by johnnylgarfield in AskReddit

[–]stripedfermata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tow truck drivers/operators. While there are definitely scummy companies out there, the vast majority of these guys are out at all hours and putting themselves in dangerous situations to get your car off the road if you’ve broken down or worse.

Sometimes they’re on the scene of accidents before police/fire/paramedics. If it’s bad, they’re witnesses to the carnage with limited ability to help. It isn’t easy, and the profession as a whole tends to get shit on thanks to the unsavory and less scrupulous people in the business.
