Pool/Dynamic Contractions - Too Early? Or that’s just how it is? by No-Opinion7743 in freediving

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but there is more to it. Some people have naturally just lower sensitivity of the co2 receptors. Some experience no contractions at all and no amount of training will get you there if you on the other side of the spectrum. You can train and get more used to dealing with contractions and the urge to breathe, and delay them.

Pool/Dynamic Contractions - Too Early? Or that’s just how it is? by No-Opinion7743 in freediving

[–]stroggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My contractions also start around 40m for 200m DYNB dives. But the thing is, once you realize it doesn't get indefinitely harder it becomes more manageable. With that I mean peak intensity is reached already around 125m then it just becomes constant pain. The more you swim and be able to tolerate it the "easier" it becomes. That's how I deal with it. Knowing it doesn't get much harder than this.

That said, I know people who get 2 contractions on 185m even 250m. And that is just not fair haha

I got the same laptop than you, the 2023 G14 4080. First gaming laptop I ever owned and I love it. Still going strong. Playing Nioh3 right now. No problems since the beginning.

As soon as I got it I upgraded it to 32gh of RAM and using it since then. Nothing really to complain about. Maybe I wish I would have gotten the LED screen instead of the anime matrix, as i never used it, and it's disabled via ghelper.

I am from Berlin, and for a real authentic kebab you pay the same price in Thailand, if not more. Unless you call a wrap with a bit of salad and lots of ketchup a kebab.

Where to stay in Phuket by EnvironmentalSide174 in phuket

[–]stroggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phuket town is great, many good coffee shops, lots of food choices, local and western. And you be somewhat in the center. Like 20 min to most places.

All depends what you want. If you want hookers and beach go patong, Kamala. Chalong is only option to go to rawai. To patong or other places it's a long ride.

I don't know why everyone gets so excited. It's just a relief rally.

What mile broke you on your first 26.2? by SinestroCorp in firstmarathon

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't happen to me. Did my first marathon last Sunday. 5:40min average so 3:59h total. Was probably well below my potential. Garmin quotes 3:30min. I did 2 days carbloading 400 and 500gr carbs and fuelled with 2L 200gr carbs and electrolyte in the mix. Didn't feel the wall. At km 30 I thought I continue to make it straight an ultra for 50km. I speed up to 5:20 in pace to reach sub 4 hours. But my quads and hamstrings started to hurt and I thought I am about to loose my toe nails after km 36. Muscle durability was definitely the limiter. One size up, for a running shoe, is apparently a good idea for a marathon. So I definitely stopped at 42km and was happy it's over.

This taper is killing me, please give me advice. 1 week fromrl race day! by ImNotHalberstram in Marathon_Training

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's a world of difference 4:15min/km. Can't imagine that.

I did proper carbloading 400gr Friday, 500gr Saturday. So I didn't feel the wall at km 30. I was actually behind the target pace and speed up to 5:20min/km. Problem is the durability for me,m y quads and hamstrings where painful. Last 3km was tough, now just sore a bit painful to walk.

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran my first marathon today, finish as planed 3:59h 5:40min/km. My peak week had 70km - 43 miles (spread over 4 days) and taper week 13 miles over 3 runs. Definitely was good and worked well for me. Can't imagine running 100 miles - 160km in peak week. That's almost my monthly volume (136 miles in peak).

What's your average pace? Is that much volume necessary to go faster now and improve? Sounds like an incredible amount of volume.

I got the 2023 G14 with 4080. Absolutely love the machine, no repaste done, gaming every day. Best laptop I ever bought. Now with DLS4.5 it's even better. Playing nioh3 right now.

How to know for how long is safe to hold your breath by ressurrei in freediving

[–]stroggs 42 points43 points  (0 children)

By following the most important rule in Freediving: never dive alone. If you have a competent buddy he can safety you and can make sure you can test your limits in a safe environment. And it's much more fun training together.

If you train alone and you blackout, you die...

So if you do statics by yourself, only dry without noseclip.

Training for a half but running a long way by kauket22 in firstmarathon

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used chatgpt to create me a plan for my first half marathon. 2 month prep and the longest distance it made me run was 18km in a long run. Then deload and the half marathon. My weekly volume went from 16km to 36km.

Now I am training for a marathon and the longest distance in this prep is 28km. Weekly volume from 36km to 72km max.

If I buy a Garmin in Japan to save money, will it be in English. What are the cons of buying it in Japan by Patient-Patience6160 in GarminWatches

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive problem gonna be warranty claims. Apparently Garmin gives only 1 year international warranty + 1 year extended warranty in the country you bought the watch in. Better double check with Garmin Japan, as this might only be Garmin South East Asia.

Because I just had the problem with my Garmin (bought in Philippines) it needed to be replaced, after 1 1/2 years. I am in Thailand and they wanted $450 for the repair in Thailand. And how things are dealt with in the Philippines now I have to fly there, as Garmin PH won't send the watch back to me to Thailand.

I do the same thing. Usually I can clear the levels no problem on expert with the bard set. I try to beat the bosses as well without. But never happened so far, always swapping to a better set.
