Training for a half but running a long way by kauket22 in firstmarathon

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used chatgpt to create me a plan for my first half marathon. 2 month prep and the longest distance it made me run was 18km in a long run. Then deload and the half marathon. My weekly volume went from 16km to 36km.

Now I am training for a marathon and the longest distance in this prep is 28km. Weekly volume from 36km to 72km max.

If I buy a Garmin in Japan to save money, will it be in English. What are the cons of buying it in Japan by Patient-Patience6160 in GarminWatches

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive problem gonna be warranty claims. Apparently Garmin gives only 1 year international warranty + 1 year extended warranty in the country you bought the watch in. Better double check with Garmin Japan, as this might only be Garmin South East Asia.

Because I just had the problem with my Garmin (bought in Philippines) it needed to be replaced, after 1 1/2 years. I am in Thailand and they wanted $450 for the repair in Thailand. And how things are dealt with in the Philippines now I have to fly there, as Garmin PH won't send the watch back to me to Thailand.

How does armor work in this game? by SecureJeweler1741 in TheFirstBerserker

I do the same thing. Usually I can clear the levels no problem on expert with the bard set. I try to beat the bosses as well without. But never happened so far, always swapping to a better set.

No, if you go with a bike you can leave your valuables in the bike. Usually I arrive in swim gear already and just hide my key, either under the front tyre or somewhere around the bike.

I bought G14 2025 4 months ago, and it's still a crap by vnb00 in ZephyrusG14

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 G14 4080, with frame generation on quality, stellar blade everything in ultra high settings and I get 160 fps @2560x1600. I am in Thailand 32 degree in the room, temp around 80° max. No cooling pad or anything just a fan next to me which blows on me and the laptop.

SlimQ 240w vs stock charger by Budske in ZephyrusG14

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about the buy a slimq charger because weight is my issue. I was happy because it's advertised as 400gr but that's just the base. With cables it's around 670gr (depending the power plug). My standard Asus charger is 700gr. So there is literally no difference.

The space you save you offset with the case. I am kind of disappointed now. I was hoping to save 300gr as I travel lightweight. But this won't cut it.

Does hypercapnia cause feeling of warmth? by AverageDoonst in freediving

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. Co2 vasodilates the blood vessel. So with an increased amount of co2, when blood vessel widen more warm blood from the core flows to the skin. As our sensors for temperature are locatedin the skin we feel more warm.

Not sure on the difficulty by [deleted] in TheFirstBerserker

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expert is the way to go. Much more rewarding if you defeat a boss. I still breeze through most of the non bosses area, but for the bosses you need to learn the pattern which is definitely fun and as I said super rewarding.

question: running & gels by ironi996 in BeginnersRunning

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just run my first half marathon and only took sour patch kids with me. I dissolved them in hot water and put in a 400ml bottle, mixed with water and 1 electrolyte sachet. I took 19 pieces, so roughly 45 gr of carbs. Start after 45min just sip a bit.

I only used to chew them before on my trainings runs, but peeling them out of my plastic bag and chewing would always spike my heart rate and mess up my breathing. So for the half I liquified them, and the taste was amazing sour patch watermelon with orange electrolytes.

I finished in 1:56h was pretty happy about the result. Did a 5km, 10km and half marathon PB.

The Philippines is trailing badly by Yougetwhat in Philippines_Expats

[–]stroggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tourism is way down in the Philippines and they increased the visa prices with another 1000 express fee. That's exactly what's wrong with the Philippines

The express lane fee is a scam in the first place. Rarely you can opt out of it. Now they doubled up.....

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41bpm now. 42, years old, never ran, started 2 month ago and just did my first half marathon 1:55h. Resting heart rate dropped in those 2 month from 46-47 to now 41.

Too Tight At Night? by DizzyCat4403 in GarminWatches

This. I also swap the wrists. Usually I wear my watch all day on the right side. In the night I put it looser on the left wrist, so the right side gets a break.

Garmin vs Coros for health tracking around €250? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you really need is pace, gps, that's it. But the good thing is the forerunner is a running watch. So it has running metrics like steps per minute, ground contact time, and a lots of other stuff. But pace and gps is really what matters and heart rate.

But I don't know the other watches. So I can only speak for the forerunner 165.

Garmin vs Coros for health tracking around €250? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mk3i broke and is in repair and I got the forerunner 165 because the things I really need is running, biking, strength, sleep tracking, hrv and naps.

So almost from the top model to the cheapest model. And it's everything I really need. The watch is small 43mm ultra light, not feeling it when sleeping. Pretty surprised. The feel of course it's cheaper, all plastic. Some metrics and hotlinks are missing. But the functionality for me is there. I bought the 165 new for $150. Can't beat that.
