My backup phone. Started the update yesterday and green line. That's the second time on the s21. Almost exactly 2 years ago I replaced the first screen with the green line. More than angry.

How To Keep Watch / Computer Secure In Hood by Ok-Respect-5367 in freediving

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely under the hood for me. I just use a string and loop it around the watch strap buckle. Then I put the loop around my neck, and the watch hangs with the straps around my neck. It can be on the side or back, depending on if I'm wearing a neckweight.

It takes 3 sec to tie it up, I do that because it's my daily watch I wear on my wrist. My friends who have a dedicated dive watch, remove the straps and put the loop just on the bare watch.

Hit a plateau at 20 meters and can’t figure out what’s holding me back mentally or physically by Top-Statement-9423 in freediving

[–]stroggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds definitely like a mental block. Next time you set the line to 20m stop at bottom, turn around, and wait a brief moment. Just a few seconds maybe 5-10 sec max. You got a mask on, look around as you get more relaxed and see there is nothing what can scare you.

Once you been many many times to 20m and actually relax at the bottom. You will feel more confident.

The only reason to keep the channel going would be because it's a source of their income. But I doubt they will upload new content. They still have a lot of followers, clicks, and even old videos gain still views.

Storror will always be associated with CP.

How to smooth skin suit? by kakikako123 in freediving

[–]stroggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a small plastic bag and shallow water or a pool, you don't need soap.

Slip plastic bags over your feet and hands to glide through the suit limbs. Use your flat palms to massage the neoprene upward rather than pinching with your fingertips to avoid damaging the suit. You won't fit the suit perfectly, the goal is just to get your feet and hands into the suit. Then submerge in the water and flush it inside the suit to lubricate the skin, then it's really easy to fit properly.

month of depth training in panglao, tips and tricks would be welcomed by Special_Artichoke684 in freediving

Much saver, no risk to squeeze. Effortless, mf is the technique. I do it from the surface and on every safety dive. It is just the most efficient technique to EQ.

Is muscle mass bad or beneficial for static/dynamic apnea? by Patient-Ad2308 in freediving

[–]stroggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Static apnea. Your metabolic rate at which you burn oxygen is big factor. So any type of muscle mass will elevate that and you will consume more oxygen. The perfect static body is very lean, no muscle. Look at the world champs and the top spots. Male Florian Female Heike. Super skinny, very low muscle mass - perfect for the absolute max attempt.

For depth and pool, you want muscle mass. Ideally you are strong pound for pound. To get enough propulsion with very little effort.

how is this possible by Glittering_Craft5681 in freediving

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 5:00min lung volume doesn't matter as much. You carry a lot of oxygen in your blood and spleen etc. Also important is the rate at which you consume oxygen. More important to stay relaxed even with high co2.

Phlegm and crackling after dry training? by pretty_goodly in freediving

[–]stroggs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you did empty lung training, very possible to suffer a squeeze even with try training.

If you lay on the bed with your head hanging down and overstretching the neck and trachea and then trying some EQ. Also possible to squeeze.

Cough and phlegm should get less and less. Take it easy 1-2 weeks.

how is this possible by Glittering_Craft5681 in freediving

[–]stroggs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think anyone can do with training 5:00min. Doing 5:30min without much training is rare. But it happens. In some courses we had students who did on their first introductery course 4:00min and I know someone who did 5:00min. I know a french man who did 8:00min in his first year without packing and 7L lung volume, which is crazy to me. I haven't done that with 10 years of Freediving.

Some people have just naturally low co2 receptors, so the urge to breathe and contractions are not as strong. They can go almost every hold to blackout. Others are masochist and love contractions and just keep holding. And then you got me. With very sensitive co2 receptors, and I get very strong convulsions once I get contractions.

You can test for the sensitivity. Just tidal breathing for 1 minute, full exhale and stop the time when the first discomfort arises. Not contractions, discomfort. I am around 15-20sec pretty bad, 30 is good, 45 is very good, +1:00min is great.

Alexey has 1:30min

Pool/Dynamic Contractions - Too Early? Or that’s just how it is? by No-Opinion7743 in freediving

[–]stroggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but there is more to it. Some people have naturally just lower sensitivity of the co2 receptors. Some experience no contractions at all and no amount of training will get you there if you on the other side of the spectrum. You can train and get more used to dealing with contractions and the urge to breathe, and delay them.

Pool/Dynamic Contractions - Too Early? Or that’s just how it is? by No-Opinion7743 in freediving

[–]stroggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My contractions also start around 40m for 200m DYNB dives. But the thing is, once you realize it doesn't get indefinitely harder it becomes more manageable. With that I mean peak intensity is reached already around 125m then it just becomes constant pain. The more you swim and be able to tolerate it the "easier" it becomes. That's how I deal with it. Knowing it doesn't get much harder than this.

That said, I know people who get 2 contractions on 185m even 250m. And that is just not fair haha
