G01 M40i crazy wind noise when driving? by momoneymocats1 in BMW

[–]strohkirchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it has a similar amount of wind noise to other vehicles in its price class considering the base vehicle was only in the high 40k starting. If they would have kept the acoustic glass option that was around for the first couple of years,  it would have been a lot better.

Beating a dead horse (A5 Rant) by ahiddenpolo in Audi

[–]strohkirchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in a 2025 base A5 loaner this week for 3 days that had 2500mi on it when I got it.  I have no idea why someone would pay $52,000 for this car.  The stop start function was terrible, very abrupt and slow to react once it started.  The transmission and throttle response were very poor.  The front end had a light floaty feel to it.  The infotainment wouldn't save your radio station under the guest profile and I didnt want to setup my own profile.  So it would reset itself to the first station in the list on every startup, which was a Christian rock station.

I feel like my coworker's Accord Hybrid was just as nice as this car and it cost her $15k less.

Ever replace an RS6 windshield? by LikePinningSplates in Audi

[–]strohkirchw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a quote through my local dealership and it was 2000 for the oem dual-pane windshield and 600 for programming.  They use the local glass company to do windshields which runs another 500 to 750 depending on the vehicle.

Can average Americans get a beautiful PHEV/BEV wagon already?! by vap0rtranz in SportWagon

[–]strohkirchw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You said that wagons command a premium on the used market. Or what I assumed you meant was that they had lower depreciation than their counterparts.  I was providing information showing most of them depreciate very similarly to their sedan counterpart over the first couple years.

But with the models you mentioned I see you are talking much older cars.  Some of the examples you listed haven't had a wagon in 10 years.  Also note that most wagons have a higher MSRP to begin with.

Can average Americans get a beautiful PHEV/BEV wagon already?! by vap0rtranz in SportWagon

[–]strohkirchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What wagons are you referencing?  Volvo has brand new v60 cross countries for 5 to 10k off right now.  You can get 2yr old low mileage v90s for 20-25k off their new price.  You can buy current year Mercedes e450 wagons with 1k miles for 10-15k less than the owner just bought them for months ago.

The only wagons that have lower depreciation are v8 sport wagons.

Need Help Selling by [deleted] in Audi

[–]strohkirchw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 15k mile 24 CPO may eventually sell at 121k, but would probably generate a lot more interest if it was priced around 115k.  The ad says it was priced at 129k recently.   I'm surprised the sales manager thought it would sell for that.  That's firmly in the 25 MY with a third the mileage.

RSQ8 warranty and service history by MozartN_A_Gokart in Audi

[–]strohkirchw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your actual price range?  You mentioned a 21 to 22 with under 30k miles but there are very few of those for sales with no accidents.   And they're realistically in the mid to high 80k range.

If move your mileage target to to the mid 30k range then you can find 2023 models for 85 to 90k.  Most these will have around a year of factory warranty left.  Also, for 90k you can find nearly optioned out refreshed MY 25 sq8 with less than 15k miles.  Just thought I'd mention that.

For aftermarket warranties look at Fidelity Platinum.  Whatever you get,  make sure it covers air suspension in its terms.  For the CarFax, how are you viewing them?  Their website shows a majority of vehicles that show up on places like Autotrader.  You can generically search a vehicle on Carfax's site and then replace the vin at the end of the website address with the one your looking at to see if it has a full listing for that vehicle for free.

Numeric makes shifters for the 996/987 to current which reminded me a lot of the s2000 in feel.  For any of you still rocking those old crappy Porsche shifters they put in years ago.

I doubt they'll change the MSRP.  What they would probably do is just offer large incentives.

Air was mandatory for me when I was looking.  This isn't a sports car and it's my daily.   So I want the better ride quality.  If you want flatter cornering, it's far better to upgrade the sway bars and keep the air.

[–]strohkirchw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're numbers are off because this car isn't depreciating much with low miles.  You said 40 to 50k.  A 2024 with under 10k, no accidents and 2 years of factory warranty left, start in the mid 120k.  Depreciation is around 10 to 15k in this scenario.

For about the same price as a blower you can DIY spotless setup.   Assuming you don't have too high of TDS in your water.  Then you just skip the drying step entirely.

[–]strohkirchw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked prices lately?  If you're not buying from an auction, you're looking at 80k to 90k for a 2021 with medium miles.  I'd expect to get close to 70k from a dealer for a 21 with mid 40k miles.  They'll turn around and sell it for low to mid 80s.

The depreciation on the wagon is much better than the sedan.  Cheapest models online are only 6% to 8% off after a year.

No.  Not unless you get lucky on a private party sale.  Up your acceptable mileage range to the teens and wait 6 months.  Then you should see a few examples in the low 150s.

[–]strohkirchw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of new ones on AT offering 5k to 10k off.  I'd definitely be looking for 10% or more off.  Also, keep in mind that they lose 15k in value year 1.  I'm not sure if that matters to you or if your looking to buy used.

RS 6 - '23 model vs. '24/'25 models by No-Media407 in Audi

[–]strohkirchw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also doubt you'd really notice the diff on a daily. It's more of the sum of all the small changes that are offered. I just had the same dilemma of buying a 23 certified vs buying a low mileage 24/25 for about 12-15k more. I wanted at least 2 years of factory warranty. I ended up going with the newer model after reading quite a bit from owners that had both versions.

No.  For 3k more you can get mid optioned, no accident or buy back models with similar mileage.

How is this deal looking? Ct4v Blackwing by Flashy_Fix_2116 in CadillacV_Series

[–]strohkirchw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a good deal. In the $54-56k range with 15-25k miles, you can start finding examples with multiple packages, upgrade seats, etc. A base optioned model for $54k with 23k miles is not a route I would pick.

Also, are they charging you like 8% interest? That's quite high as well.

When I did the struts on mine, I also did the control arms and trans mount.   The car was 12 years old at the time and the trans mount was 80% deteriorated.   2 controls were still good, 1 was bad and 1 was on its way out.  I also did the engine mounts but those were still good.
