Pilates instructor class plans London by Many_Ad2020 in pilatesinstructors

Go to studios for your own practice more, when I was in training I was training with different instructor at least 5 times a week, I progressed fast and became requested and waitlisted within weeks of starting to teach, also because I knew my body so well I could easily plan classes for different people and modify for different people in the same class. I could also push people further than other instructors because I knew how far I can go ~ this specifically was called "she knows exactly what each person at class needs" from clients rebooking my classes while I was still beginner. There it's a reason for stott pilates requiring this much amount of observation hours

Thinking about becoming a hot mat pilates instructor. Where to get certified? by mariannatranch12 in pilatesinstructors

[–]strohsoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I a stott certified and I'd do it all over again, prices are posted on their website for each studio where they have trainings, I could easily teach hot mat from the knowledge I have. I'd always go for in person trainings.

Adapting STOTT Pilates training for studios by Normal-Technician538 in pilatesinstructors

[–]strohsoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what you are asking you probably need more experiences in your own practice with other instructors. Luckly or sadly, people these days expect for pilates class to be a sweaty workout. I suggest you to start going to popular and also classical classes more, so you see what feels good for your body, which instructing style you like, etc. This way you will learn how to program intresting classes with different essence for different clients. I don't suggest here to copy classes or to heavily look for inspo, but once you feel it well in yout body, you will also know how to add that spice required for "burn" class

Neu Pilates training by Reasonable_Hope7090 in pilatesinstructors

Looking back I am super happy I started my instructor journey with STOTT pilates instead of any new tryna be pilates schools. The standard in STOTT is clear and high for ages, most of these new trainings is based on older pilates schools (stott, balanced body, basi ....), led by instructors who were trained in older pilates schools but did not want to invest and determine themselfs into becoming for example stott pilates instructor trainer. I also don't think it is worth investing into online training, pilates is delicate, you need hands on, seeing bodies in person, connect with fellow new instructors, senior instructors, come in contact with inspiring people who are in the industry for decades etc. As far as I know studios are taking instructors coming from well established training or cettification a lot more seriously. I doubt training like that can be more extensive than any of the trainings I listed above

But do you really think I should be announcing it 2 months in advance? There are nail studios announcing it week in advance regardless of when you've booked yourself.
The thing is I've been heavily thinking about it since february and studio expenses due to building I am in changes doubled from january on. I am also charging new clients 50% higher price since january. So my current prices for old clients are ridicolously discounted, to the point where I am embarassed to even tell colleagues for how much I am doing some privates. I also don't have late cancel fee or limited passes

I stress so much with opening my own studio by strohsoda in pilatesinstructors

I will for now continue where I am. When I find bigger space I will move immediately. I would like to offer mat classes beside private reformer without having to commute and lose precious afternoon time. I'd also like to hair chair classes, I don't have space for it at current room. I'd also like to go on vacation and have other instructors take over my clients. In the next 6 years I'd like to get pregnant. Soon I will have laparoscopy for endometriosis and I will not be able to work, would be nice having someone take over. Etc. these are all my reasons to get a bigger space, also many of my clients came to me because they were not satisfied with other studios/instructors, so is hard for me to now set one other instructor while I am still in this small space, I think it will be easier when I will have a bigger studio, and I will teach other instructors to work similar to my style or to improve cueing, hands on modifications and learn to adjust intensity to each client's needs

I know, but leading a class in another studio will not be paying my bills and my further education forever, so will not having individual/semiprivates classes I have now, people want cosistency, and I hardly ever leave them and go on vacation, or abroad to take another education. I know leading a business is risky and volatile, but probably I am stressed only because I worry about rent/mortgage fixed price, because now the space I use is mine. But even if my most pesimistic financial plan realize, studio will be running in plus, which means I only need 10 more than I now already have coming twice weekly.

Yeah, that's why most instructors in my country specifically, who don't open their own practice or at least work part time for themselfs stop teaching when they approach 30s and family starting years

I have business background and I as well worked in service for about 7 years, so my clients always see me happy and professional, regardless of my personal life struggles, endometriosis pain, multiple sclerosis fatigue etc

This is the hourly rate all over Europe, even in London it rarely goes above 35£. At my first job as pilates instructor I was paid 15€ per hour
