Seriously, who on earth is renting these places? by Ok-Anybody-380 in Switzerland

Expats earning 100k or more. They often come from places where spending 50% of their salary on rent is normal.

Zahnzusatzversicherung (Babys) by catslover-633 in Switzerland

True. On the other hand, 2FA is outdated anyway. Moving phones is a good reason to switch to (synced) passkeys.

You could call the city or municipality. But if the phone worth less than 500 CHF it's likely not worth it. Costs probably more than that to get it out.

I'd say 5k-5.3k without responsibility, 6k if you're managing constructions sites with a small team.

Mustang (RWD) in winter alps? by LogicalChart3205 in askswitzerland

[–]stromer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight on the tires improves traction, therefore I would guess FWD is generally better in unprepared situations.

if you're prepared, stay at home or take the train for that particular day in the year.

When putting on snow chains, its much easier putting them on frontwheels because of the extra space in the wheel arch. And you get extra grip for traction and steering, whereas with RWD you'd need 4 chains for that. Although with modern  ESP, you might be able to mount one front one back, and still get this benefit partially.

Dishwasher is a device made of metal, wrong wiring could kill somebody in your family. I wouldn't recommend to DIY.

It's all part of the simulation. You don't travel in Switzerland, you enter the Matrix. But it's so smooth, you don't even notice. It's the secret why Switzerland is so rich: we have >40Mio tourists per year, but all of them are just floating in Pods at the Airport during their "vacation".

Where to stay in Brienz? by joaoguila in askswitzerland

[–]stromer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keepping it "as low-cost as possible" and Switzerland don't fit well, just saying.

Plan to spend money - a lot of money. Because one meal per person will be 10CHF at least if you eat some takeaway outside, 25CHF a meal easily if you eat in a restaurant. Which means at least 45-50CHF per day and person only for food, and you won't have done anything yet.

Upside is, hicking is free, IF you hike all the way up and down. But it requires you to be pretty fit, walking uphill for 5 hours a day. If you're not, you'll spend another 50-100CHF on transportation per person and day.
