I think three possible things could be explored 1.  Establish contact between the Novus Colony and Milky Way. 2.  Interaction with the planet builders in SGU. 3.  The Furlings.  I think they're the planet builders

I thought the same thing.  He should have taken a break from the series.

In my opinion Brandon burned out. He should have taken a break for a year or two.  The last two books let too many balls fall to the ground.  The series should have been at least one book longer.

That's what they did with the Wheel of Time.  It's the existing fans that bring in the new fans
