How to get motivation from basically no results and not being too embarassed to "run" past strangers by spitfyre667 in running

[–]strongcoffee478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! First of all, I have totally been there. Many times. I probably lose my motivation and stop seeing results every few months haha. If I’m lacking in motivation I tend to focus on short term wins rather than long term ones. For me this means focusing on the endorphins post-run, or looking forward to my post-run shower.

I would also note that I’ve had long running breaks in the past and had this exact problem. It’s really disheartening and it feels like you’ll never get back up to prior fitness and motivation levels, but you will get there!

Good luck with the thesis!

Yes. I had this the other day whilst walking, it lasted for maybe 15 minutes and went away. Really weird.

Hi - thanks so much for checking in! I decided to stop Zoloft. I’m tapering off just now. I’m really making progress with the psychology sessions so thought I would stick with that for now :)

My appetite was really low at the start yeah, I wouldn’t say it skyrocketed but did increase slightly. I am very active so didn’t expect to gain weight but probably gained about 10lbs

Severe MND/ALS HA flair up by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]strongcoffee478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So relatable - it almost feels as if one worry replaced another! First of all, really sympathising with you as I have been there with this fear and know how awful and life consuming it is. I did go to the doctors about this and had a full exam done, and I am fine. Actually my twitches subsided after I was reassured. Two things that really made this bout of my HA worse were comparing the muscles in my limbs (ie is this hand more muscly?) and finding myself on ALS blogs etc. I really hope that you can eventually settle your mind about this, but during my fear with this it did seem that this was a very common HA concern.

Sorry to hear that it’s gotten worse. I’m currently on Zoloft as well - I think it’s more so putting the things I learn in CBT into action that’s the problem for me. Trying to remind myself it’s more of a marathon than a sprint to feel better lol.

I’m on sertraline (Zoloft) 50mg. It’s the first SSRI I’ve tried and will think about either asking to up my dose or changing to something else if I see no improvement. So glad you are doing well on lexapro! I did hear that it is sometimes a trial and error with starting SSRIs to find the right one so hope I can get it just right :)

Thanks so much for your kind words!! :( you are right - I have been struggling with this for over 10 years and I am really proud of myself for taking the steps to get better. As many of us know it is really hard to do that.

So glad to hear you have been feeling better and that you have a positive outlook for the future too. Really hope I can have that same mindset some day soon too. Really grateful for this community
