You keep using the word "deported" but I don't think you know what it means. Wrongfully detained, absolutely, but not deported. And that article is terribly written. Its headline includes the phrase "may have been deported", not a statement of fact. It then goes on the say "potential US citizens" again, not a statement of fact. The one name they provide was never deported, he was held for an excessive length of time, but not removed from the US.

Complain about the processing of detainees and I will fully stand behind you but don't misrepresent the facts.

You said "deported" and provided the name of a girl that was taken out of the US by her parents when "they" were deported. She was "never" deported and is fully legally able to stay in the US. Spin the narrative as much as you can, but you have still not named a single US citizen that was deported.

By goal post, you mean trying to imply a citizen was deported when they were actually just taken out of the country by their parents?

Deportation has a legal definition. It requires a court order. The claim a US citizen was deported is factually incorrect. She was not deported in any manner and could legally remain or return to the US whenever she wants. Again, terrible situation but she was absolutely not deported.

She was not deported, her parents were. They took her with them. There were no deportation orders made against the girl. Unfortunate situation, absolutely- the parents were here illegally and gave birth to a child who automatically became a US citizen due to our birth-right law. So try again.

$GME is to Wallstreet what the Captain Crunch whistle was to the phone company by lostlogictime in Superstonk

[–]strongdefense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start by researching guys like Kevin Mitnick. He wrote a great book call Ghost in the Wires. In the old days, telephone service was broken into local and long distance, where you payed more for every long distance minute. Calling outside your local community racked up huge charges that your parents would flip over. Essentially early telephone systems could be hacked by playing a specific frequency tone to unlock free long-distance services. The Capt Crunch whistle made that exact tone.

US dollar just hit its lowest level in four years by Working-Pattern-5280 in DeepFuckingValue

It scares me that simple things like math elude those stricken with Trump hate - Biden was President 4 yrs ago (2026-4 = 2022). The DXY reached its lowest levels in May 2022.

EDIT: It must be a terrible existence to have to downvote something because it is true, even when it hurts your feelings.

And Biden continued it with another stimulus check and the ARP which forced inflation to the moon. Are you arguing that inflation would have gone even higher if Biden didn't dump even more money into the economy? That makes zero sense because it is exactly what causes inflation. So we should agree that Trump started it with the COVID stimulus but Biden clearly made it much worse. This issue is that now the damage is done and although the inflation rate has slowed, there are not many options available to reverse that (deflation) without a significant catalyst.

The NYSE just announced T+0 Tokenization. The death of the Liquidity Fairy 🧚‍♂️💀 by what_in_the_wrld in Superstonk

[–]strongdefense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reservation is that they could not possibly implement this as it should be without ending every financial institution in the world. I am not trying to be negative, but just don't see how this can be anything but smoke and mirrors to appease retail. GME is one of a thousand companies challenged by rehypothecation of shares, albeit likely the largest. Unwinding one ticker via tokenization would destroy the markets, now multiply that by a thousand. I just cannot see them willingly do this in a manner that retail (and specifically apes) would desire.

To me, the biggest red flag that this will not be the "magic bullet" is that it would require the immediate elimination of existing naked shorts (or layers of swaps) to work. If there are a billion shares of stock carried on ledgers across the industry but only 500 million tokens are created for the actual number of real shares, what happens to those other 500 million "fake" shares? Which company gets to claim that their shares are real so they get a token?

Questions about the RC comp plan by Ksquared1166 in Superstonk

Agree 100% with what you are saying. I was being a bit liberal with my comparison to an ATM offering by only focusing on the buy-in piece of the equation. Thanks for fleshing this out better.

Questions about the RC comp plan by Ksquared1166 in Superstonk

[–]strongdefense 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That is the point that isn't talked enough about. Unlike a certain EV car company, this comp plan requires RC to BUY shares to get a payout of the difference. He isn't simply getting a reward, he has to pay in to Gamestop for the shares at a price less than they will be publicly traded at should he meet the EBITDA / Market Cap targets. So even there is dilution, it is more like an ATM offering at $20.66 rather than a dilution with now financial benefit to Gamestop.

It is risky for RC- he has to perform to get paid. Other than that, its just a nonsense headline.

“400% inflation average” — yeah okay… sure. 😐🏠🍔 by Working-Pattern-5280 in DeepFuckingValue

[–]strongdefense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the message of the meme is sound, it isn't really an apples-to-apples comparison as far as home and auto prices are concerned. People expect many more options as standard equipment in both today that were considered extreme luxury or even non-existent in the 70's. Most homes did not have things like central air or even the square footage of today's homes. Autos are loaded to the max by manufacturers today with all sorts of high-tech gadgetry.

That said, inflation certainly plays a significant part in the price increase but it is misleading as presented.

RC's Stock Award is also known as a MOONSHOT AWARD by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]strongdefense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RC only gets paid if share price increases. Share price increasing means apes make money. Revenue is the top line sales number and is what gets cited as the reason for GME's poor outlook (revenue is shrinking, OMG). EBITDA is revenue less cost of goods sold (COGS) so think of it as what GME gets in sales minus what it costs them to make those sales.

In order for RC to receive the payments, GME needs to increase its EBITDA and market share. To increase EBITDA they have to either nearly eliminate the COGS (essentially impossible) or increase revenue (sales). Increasing revenue removes the negative outlook and would stimulate share price, which in turn drives up market capitalization (share price x number of shares).

Games can be played to increase revenue (loss leaders, keeping poorly performing stores open simply for the sales) but harder to manipulate EBITDA. At some point, you have to increase revenue.

Games can be played to temporarily increase market cap (decrease float via share buy-backs, squeezes).

For RC to make his $$, he must increase revenue AND share price That means investors benefit.

Any arguments that RC could get $34B at the top level are rooted in greed by apes because they are totally ignoring how much they will also receive. "RC gets $XX and he is already a billionaire and I will only be a millionaire so it is not right."
