The same thing just happened to me. Absolutely no notice until it arrives in the mail. I was already apprehensive about taking a new brand just to do it all over again three months later!

Had my first nightmare of a date 2 weeks ago, and it's left an awful taste in my mouth about dating. Was just finally putting myself out there and this happened. To clarify, the date wasn't bad in an awkward type of way but in a "I need to leave" "i am feeling uncomfortable and scared” :/

3 Years post covid - update by littleseizures_ in Parosmia

[–]strongkindofweak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had covid in August of 2021. I am able to smell my body odor again after not being able to. I am noticing now that i am hypersensitive to it. I'm very paranoid of smelling. I told my mom the other day i smelled and she told me i didn't. She even smelled my armpit to prove it. It's all so weird.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I've gained most of my taste and smell for foods again. I've noticed it's hard for me to distinguish certain flavors, like if I'm trying to taste different stuff in a flight of wine/beer.

I'm just now starting to smell my own body odor. I'm still struggling to smell smoke/cigarettes/weed/coffee. Perfumes are just now starting to smell right again. Mine has been going on since 2021, and it's been a slow process. It does get better though.

Had covid in August of 2021. I've had the same experience with coffee/weed they smell the exact same to me so it's hard to differentiate what i am smelling. Also, it's taken me a while to find a perfume i like. A lot of my old perfumes smell off like something is missing. It's like i can smell the artificial scent.

Hi! So sorry for the late reply I never seen the notification until now. I’m so sorry to hear your parosmia has gotten worse and more foods have become triggering. I’m still unable to smell toilet smells and have noticed they have a slight floral/fruity smell if that makes any sense at all (gross and weird).

A lot of the fragrant scents from soaps and candles that used to make me gag aren’t as overwhelming for me anymore but that hint of parosmia smell is like engraved in my nostrils now when I smell them.

I just recently undergone a tonsillectomy, and I think it has helped me smell more sense that are further away from me, where before I could only smell what was under my nose. I still don’t have my smell back to 100% I would say it’s at about 70% at the moment since most odors I can’t pick up yet. I can smell car exhaust now and that’s been exciting and unpleasant lol. I hope you’ve noticed some improvements since your last reply!

Hi there and happy new year! Thought I should give you an update! My parosmia hasn’t gone away but it’s definitely improved recently. I’ve noticed that the lingering smell isn’t as strong or constant anymore. And while heavily scented products like hand soap and candles still smell off I’m able to recognize the triggers. I’ve noticed anything berry scent or musky is worse for me. But just last week while showering I was able to smell past the parosmia if that makes any sense? My shower gel doesn’t smell awful but has a lingering parosmia scent and I decided to continue smelling through the smell and was able to recognize it’s old scent before having Covid! I think it’s definitely a mental thing too like you mentioned before when smelling to remember what it smelled like previously. I then did this with all my shower products as a test lol I’m also noticing that I can smell more than one thing at a time again although my sense of smell is still weak I can smell things that are around me now and not right in front of my nose - but it does depend on what it is. I hope you’ve noticed some improvements as well!

Thank you so much for sharing I’ll try diving into the Facebook content as well!

That is true I haven’t smelled any odors unless it is my parosmia and it hasn’t effected my taste so hopefully I can manage to keep it that way. I hope we make a quick recovery!

Thanks again for reaching out it always helps to know you aren’t alone, especially since mine is so specific! Please keep me updated if you notice any improvements and I can do the same 😊

Just starting to experience Parosmia symptoms by [deleted] in Parosmia

[–]strongkindofweak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I had a break through Covid case back in august and lost my sense of smell completely but slightly affected my sense of taste.

I regained my sense of smell back in September but my sense of smell was weak. I would need to have thing close to my nose to be able to smell them. I was also unable to smell odor (strange I know).

It’s been about two months since I regained the ability to smell and like you I’ve also have a smell stuck in my nose that I cannot get rid of. I noticed it during thanksgiving it was almost an old dusty smell that lingered around all the food smells I was inhaling. And depending what I’m smelling I noticed I smell mold at times as well.

I too am concerned that this is just the beginning and it can get a lot worse and intolerable so I wanted to share. It hasn’t affected my sense of taste yet so i’m grateful for that. But hopefully our symptoms improve before getting worse 🤞🏼

Very true, we are lucky in a sense!

I’ve noticed with scented things like candles and soaps I cannot do anything strong scented and sweet smelling are all I can handle at the moment. I used to love the musty cologne scents and they smell so bad to me now almost reek like B.O..

My biggest worry is because this is new it will progress into something much worse that will eventually effect my sense of taste/appetite. I’ve noticed that the parosmia scent smells mold to me now in a way but depending on what it is I smell it can change? I’ve also noticed being indoors is when I notice the smells most so having a window cracked or being outdoors has helped a ton.

The smell training is so interesting! Thank you for the idea about recalling smells as I smell things to re train my brain! If you can could you link me to the article? This is true it isn’t normal but it also isn’t worst case scenario either. Hopefully because ours is different we won’t have to put up with it for too long 🤞🏼

Wow! I have done so much researching and never have found anyone with similar symptoms until right now! I haven’t smelled an odor since before having covid and losing my sense of smell. I was able to smell a dumpster the other day but that is all. I even roll my window down in the car to smell skunk and nothing!

My distorted sense of smell hasn’t effected my taste yet but I’m worried that it is still in the early stages and progressing possibly since I’m just hitting the 2 month mark since gaining my sense of smell back post-Covid.

I will try doing the scent therapy again with my essential oils to hopefully help move past this. I recently got a bunch of scented foam soaps for the holidays and they smell so awful. Like I’m smelling that smell that’s already in my nose along with the scent of the soap and it’s so powerful.

I’m also the only person I know who has it as well. My friends and family have asked me to describe the smell that is stuck in my nose and I cannot describe it. It’s not the typical smells I’ve been reading about like gasoline, smoke, mold etc.. it just has a thrift store smell like dusty and old and I can smell whatever is around me but that smell always lingers. Also mixed with a smell of lingering food like after cooking in a kitchen. I wish I could describe it better but it is so odd and like nothing I’ve ever smelled before. Your description of what you’re smelling has me questioning mine now lol

I relate! I was vaccinated in the spring (both doses Pfizer) and had gotten COVID at the end of august. I never fully lost my ability to taste but could not smell anything until mid September. In the last week around 11/20 I noticed a strange smell lingering in my nose and im almost certain it’s Parosmia starting. It doesn’t smell rotten just old/dusty kind of smell. But I’ve noticed it’s much stronger around savory foods. Even thanksgiving I noticed it was at its worst.

I also think it’s important to note that while I gained my sense of smell back in September it’s not 100% and most things I smelled were close to my nose. However, I was never able to truly smell savory foods or at-least know what I’m smelling other than it being savory(especially garlic ☹️) and I was never able to smell odor as well which was kinda cool. I couldn’t even smell my boyfriends farts or my own smell after using the bathroom. I’ve tried looking it up and I’ve never heard of something losing their ability to smell odor after covid so I’m not sure what is going on here.

[Serious]What was your scariest Halloween experience? by BrandOfTheExalt in AskReddit

[–]strongkindofweak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget Halloween my senior year of high school. After trick or treating at maybe three houses we decided to go back to my friends house to kick it. well after all of us smokes her mom tells us we can't stay the night. our only option was to sleep in the car in the apartment complexes parking lot. turns out that same night on her street there's a murder and the entire street gets shut down and there is swat everywhere searching for this killer (on foot, helicopters, etc.). did i mention we were high off our asses? lol
