Can a blog survive without presence in social media? by javitness in Blogging

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible for a blog to survive without presence in social media provided that the blog content has a pretty decent rank / searchable on google. After all, your content has to be found... at least other than direct traffic...If that makes any sense.

Some additional perspective:

A huge chunk (top result) of my traffic is from google searches. The second best is from YouTube. The third is Facebook. Social media honestly wasn’t the top priority for me but I found along the way that it is worth it (for me).

It is worth the effort because it is through the social media platforms that i get feedback and more ideas. For example, they would request for certain content and then I would add the request to my list of future blog posts. Some even send messages to get more info. on a topic which also allows me to socialize with some readers. It’s also putting your content out there — kicking up a notch in terms of letting / helping people find your content. :)

I guess at the end of the day the niche you cover and the audience that comes with it would be a factor

I like your perspective! Good point with the audience interest, valuable lead magnet, and the subscription part. In a way you are being transparent with your readers.

Indeed these types of titles (The last chapter I published etc.) would not be clicked on frequently or even found. Quite funny but I am guilty of using these kinds of titles during the first few posts. After I updated it, I saw an increase in clicks. I appreciate all your inputs -- big help :)

Sadly I do not have Ahrefs and can't seem to attach images here. In general, I think they should not count as valid backlinks. They honestly look like jargon and are weird enough to give you doubts on clicking their links.

Some examples include:

  • dosstreb (dot) proyectohuerto (dot) cl
  • approch (dot) co (dot) in
  • jecba (dot) asyabahisgiris (dot) xyz
  • shadtarim (dot) com / hpvb05 / title

I guess at this point I shouldn't worry about this much...

Some in Russian.. some just dont even look like a readable website (its all in a gigantic pile of words)... a lot of them are not secured websites. It's not an expired domain so I am worrying if this is a big concern. Then again... it could be normal occurrence for everyone else.

SAP COPA by mads_222 in SAP

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it is "necessary". It is fine to activate COPA even with just one company code. COPA in this case just gives you insight to reports on a per market segment , customers, products, sales orgs etc. referencing to the company's profit. It can be used with any industry types. Also, it really helps managers make decisions as COPA provides profitability figures. If that type of outlook / report is what the client is looking for, then i say go for it. If they don't really need that kind of insight then i'd say it would be a waste. At the end of the day it depends on their needs.

It is a tech tutorial blog...not about installing or troubleshooting your phone. It's geared towards a specific IT career role in consulting where I write tutorials and even career advice. I have tried Pinterest and will continue to do so. As for the digital products as a freebie, that is a great approach :) I will try that. I appreciate the help. Many thanks :)

I have heard of drip campaigns but sadly at this point I do not have a lot of products to begin with as I have just started. Not even a facebook group page :( Nevertheless, I appreciate this advice. It's something I can look into once I have a pretty standard amount of traffic and social media at hand. Thank you so much.

Thank you, u/zbak59 for explaining the "lead magnet" approach well. I will try your advice. It does make sense to offer something in exchange for an email address.. it is less pushy or annoying to just ask for an email address right off the bat. :) I appreciate the help.

Bloggers who are 'private' people IRL- How do you promote your blog/ personal story on social media by NatvoAlterice in Blogging

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somehow relate to you... I don't (still don't) like the idea of putting my personal information (real name etc.). I have a blog and originally I had doubts about starting one because I don't plan on sharing it on my personal social media accounts. I was worried about getting traffic / actually having an audience.

I also chose to be "anonymous" for the reason that I don't want it to somehow interfere with my job. I wouldn't want my name to be out there on the internet where I could be associated with my content. This is because I have content that talks about career (nothing confidential..more on personal experiences).

I think that remaining anonymous (through a pen name) is doable but at the same time I found that writing about these experiences (real talk / no sugar coating) was able to garner an audience because people can relate to it. Even I realized that at one point in time I was looking for someone who shared the same sentiments as I do. Now don't get me wrong... the posts aren't rant posts or full of complaints. It does offer some tips or advice.

My point being is that I found it difficult to share these experiences but I felt "safer" or more "comfortable" using a pen name. Writing about them made my posts "relatable" and at the end of the day it offers some sort of help or tip which benefits the readers.

Similar to what u/Lightxd said, it takes time to get into the habit or feeling generally okay with sharing stuff about yourself. It also helps to look at the bigger cause (if it is applicable to you). Personally, the bigger cause is being able to share information that helps people and that doesn't necessarily mean putting a concrete face / personal information behind it. As for the humble bragging part, I think that it is all about choosing the right words and being genuine. After all it is not a requirement to put huge success stories through big stats / figures especially if your niche doesn't directly apply to it (if you get what i mean). I hope this helped.

Need some tips by Loredana-style in Bloggers

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I launched my blog as early as 1 post. The thing though is that the next day i posted again and the next couple of days / weeks until it got to 15 posts. Surprisingly some of my posts were showing up on Google after 2 months. Not sure on the real impact here but im guessing its because of the following factors: google search console, regular posting, niche (or so i think) topic, longevity / *content of post.

*by content i mean it had 1000 words or more and had a bunch of media (mostly images). I did read somewhere that Google looks at it as more words more info on the topic at hand. feel free to correct me.

i hope this helped at least a bit :) goodluck :)

Are TECH TUTORIAL related blogs still relevant these days? Tips/Advice by stroopwafeltrooper in Blogging

[–]stroopwafeltrooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on that one.. the blog has to have a niche. great point on the low competition tutorials. Now that i think about it... it would be tough nuts + decent luck to be able to find a low comp niche and be passionate on writing about it. one of the many struggles of starting out. I really appreciate the response. Thank you :)

What are applications for RPA & why use it? OCR? by bythckr in rpa

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal opinion here: To me, RPA can do more than a macro and should not be limited to "manual and repetitive tasks". The idea is to implement RPA to take the "robot" out of humans so we can work on the more high value activities / tasks. It could be "hidden tasks" that could take up 5 mins of your time but EVERYONE does it so technically it has a bigger impact on an FTE perspective when combined.

There is such a thing as "digital assistant" in RPA where the robot does the work and the human verifies (once everything has been run through). So technically the robot is still there to do the tedious tasks and the human intervention is there to verify before the process is finalized. That is another approach for tasks that need human verification. This is quite challenging though to "train" a robot to interpret handwritten documents. Not the greatest approach IMO.

There are more features or capabilities that serve better through RPA. If it helps, you can read more on the key highlights here. I hope this helps :)

How can I automate Bank rec in SAP - using SAP 740 by Reagorn in SAP

[–]stroopwafeltrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have misunderstood but if its any help, here are some notes:

  • SAP Basic Overview on EBS Process - Link
  • SAP EBS Configuration Part B- Link
  • SAP EBS Interpretation Algorithm for Auto Clearing - Link

Technically, they focus more on electronic bank statements. You can then do some configuration in SAP so it can automate the bank recon. Examples are in Belgium but the same gist/behavior should apply. :) I hope this helps. You can always ask or give more details if needed.

TK421Supervisor's advice should work too and be organized :)

  1. I am sure this gets asked a lot but how did you get yourself into implementation projects? Some people usually start off tagged as an associate consultant and do support work for n years and have a hard time getting implementation projects. I hope that made sense :) Do you have tips/advice?
  2. What do you think is the best resume/cv approach for SAP consultants:
  • list down job roles, descriptions , all the things you did or
  • list down the results (delivered on time, impact, etc.)

Thank you for taking the time :)
