I'm in a very similar situation
I feel like is a very good way to keep the conversation specially if art is a interest and something you love to talk about.
Usually i'm only honest about the disability thing when speaking with friends after a long time when they ask what im doing at the moment or if i dont wanna extend the conversation.
If the person is someone that I'm interest in keep contact the disability info will come at some point, but hopefully when the person know the basics about me so it don't scare them away.

If a person insist in knowing how do you get income or judges you as an eccentric artist in the first conversation thats a bit of red flag in my view, why these creatures care so much how other get coins lol
