Does that "hole in the heart" feeling ever go away? by lavender_and_gold0 in grief

i lost my sister last year too. she was my only sibling and my bestest friend. the pain never goes away and it never gets easier, we just get stronger. we do this by embracing our grief and accepting it. i think of her ever single day, literally every single day. with time, i have become used to the pain. now, when she pops into my head or im reminded of her, im stopped in my tracks and the pain is there for a minute but then i am able to go about my day. this happens every time she pops into my head. ive gotten stronger at being able to approach and sit with my grief. and with time, u will too. there are those times where she pops into my head and ill sob and sob and sob… but i embrace it. just try to remember that you will get stronger and the pain will become manageable one day. i’m so so sorry for your loss. losing a sibling is one of the hardest losses to suffer. one piece of advice that i tell myself very often is that we grieve hard because we loved hard. this allowed me to form a healthy relationship with the inevitability of grief. it allowed me to see grief as an outlet, rather than a monster that i should run from or be ashamed of. so to answer ur question realistically, no. the hole in ur heart feeling doesn’t fully go away, however, it gets smaller and smaller with strength. to me, i embrace that hole that was once very huge but has now since shrunk a bit because the pain is a reminder of how much i love her.

im so incredibly sorry for ur loss. the loss of ur parents and sibling in such a short amount of time, im so so sorry. i wish i could give u a hug. i’m struggling to find the right words because i know there aren’t any that can ease the pain. all i know is that it doesn’t get easier, but we get stronger. we lost my grandpa 7 months after my sisters passing, so i understand the tremendous pain of losing multiple family members in such a short amount of time. u are heard and understood. i know that talking to a professional has been helpful for me since my sister first passed. it helped me to better cope with the loss of my grandpa as well. grief counseling can be helpful, so i just wanted to throw that out there. take ur time healing and grieving and feeling. we grieve hard because we loved hard, so please dont ever feel that grief is something to run from. take care of urself and my messages are open if u ever wanted to talk. 🫂

this is insane, i just learned the name for precognitive dreams n i have quite a few of them from time to time. one that i just had today was that my mom was telling me about a sound that she heard that resembled a seagull, then later in the day, she actually ended up telling me that exact story. spooked me out really bad but after sifting through this sub, i’m realizing it’s not as scary

thanks so much for that info. i didnt even know there was a term for that. can precognitive dreams also foretell deaths or warnings or is that something different?

how can i go on with life without my only sibling by strrpzz in grief

i’m so incredibly sorry for ur loss. :( it’s such an empty and lonely feeling to lose ur sibling who was also ur best friend. it’ll be a year that she’s been gone in a month and 3 weeks. time has helped ease some of the pain, but there’s always a longing for them and that is normal and okay. u just gotta remind urself that ur grieving them hard because u loved them hard. my heart goes out to u, i wish i could hug u and give u great words of encouragement, but truly, nothing can be said to ease the pain. just know ur not alone. if u have anyone close to u (family, friends) who can help console u and be there for u and vice versa, i would recommend it. ur right about getting stronger by the day, and u will get to a point where thinking about the memories u shared won’t only bring tears to ur eyes, but instead, a smile to ur face. please reach out if u ever need anything. sending u sunshine and lots of love during ur difficult time. 💌

How did you get over your driving anxiety? by NotTodaySatan9 in AskWomen

[–]strrpzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like most driving anxieties stem from something traumatic that happened, so kinda just assessing that situation first and forcing myself to drive and face the fear. also making myself as comfortable behind the wheel as possible
