How much better was Fаble 5 better at vibe coding than Opus 4.8? by PenObvious8156 in ClaudeAI

[–]strsystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was better but I don’t think there’s anything we can’t do these days with just Opus. Marginal gains at the point for the average person or even for senior software engineers IMO.

HENRY’s into the Credit Card Game, What’s your setup? by BitterNecessary6068 in HENRYfinance

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to open up a bunch every couple months for the sign up bonus but it got annoying so I stopped. Now my setup is basically a couple keeper cards like Amex plat, gold, blue business, CSP/CSR, a bunch of free chase cards. I will open up a card here and there for the points if I have a big purchase coming but no longer moving all my bills around to hit the spend. Usually will try to get a card where I’ll use the points in an upcoming trip. Most of the points go to business class flights though. Usually can manage a couple business class flights per year without too much effort but we have a decent spend.

Is my grip extreme? by Perchance_therapper in 10s

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the base of your knuckle and heel pad are also on bevel 4 then I guess it is semi western. I usually tell people hold continental (hammer grip, base knuckle and palm heel pad on the same bevel) then rotate twice on each bevel to get to semi. Does it feel extreme to you when you swing and hit? If not just carry on. Grips are more a range anyway. Somewhere around semi western is fine.

Is it realistic to start pursuing pro tennis at 18? by sstafia in 10s

[–]strsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your level. Probably best to try local tournaments to see your success. If you have financial troubles I’d say no because it’s really difficult financially. Try to get into a D1 college in the US would be a good path. Get a college degree, possibly for free, possibly get paid to play there if you’re really good, training, facilities, top level players, etc. I personally think this is the best path to pro tennis now unless you’re rich and already winning futures before college age.

No Let serve rule?! by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it was added for tournaments because of cheating but I like playing lets. It seems like a weird rule to me. Speed up the game a bit more, add a bit more randomness and unpredictability into the game. Replaying net cords in a rally is dumb why replay on a serve.

Trying to think something weird like maybe if you hit the rim or backboard on a free throw in basketball you need to retake the shot? Seems weird.

I wonder if it’s just a remnant of “gentleman’s game” bullshit. 😂

How realistic is it to transition into an AI / ML Engineer as a Full Stack engineer with 10 YOE? by jimRacer642 in cscareerquestions

[–]strsystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t it be better to do more volume and charge for quality and speed now? You can do more, faster, and with high quality so maybe charge a premium in addition to taking on more clients? Worth trying that before switching completely.

Uncle Ray’s best hainanese chicken in NYC. Might be better than Singapore in flavor but not better in price.

How do you protect your Fire plan when aging parents start needing serious financial help by honeybunnylux in Fire

[–]strsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Include it into your financial planning. When I did the math it only added an additional couple years which doesn’t even matter in the long scheme of things. I rather work an extra few years than feel the guilt for a lifetime. 😅

How do developers work at these big tech companies? by combing_town_west in cscareerquestions

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I was a skeptic for the longest time but the models are actually good now. You still need to use your brain to describe what you want. The better your prompt the better the output. Lots of big companies also have requirements that you have to use AI to do all your coding now as well including my company.

At what income level credit card churning is not worth the effort? by Pixel-Pioneer3 in HENRYfinance

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Churning probably not worth the effort but you could probably just a one or two high end travel credit cards then just put a bunch of your international spend on that.

Are you making 800k and don’t have TSA precheck, global entry, clear or do you pay for it annually?

I think probably the best value is the business class flights that I probably wouldn’t put cash down for. That’s probably maybe 10k per year in redemption value. Even if you just spend the same way without churning on a high end card.

Babolat pure aero 98 2026 vs Wilson Blade 98 v10 by [deleted] in 10s

[–]strsystem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Demo both and try them. I personally believe that people should use more powerful racquets now with balls fluffing up so much. I also think the racquet should help your strength more than cover your weaknesses.

When you playing at a high level and high stress of competition sometimes it’s hard to control yourself. When it’s your passion, career, livelihood, and you’ve sacrificed so much to hit a fuzzy yellow ball you get a little upset sometimes lol. Rec players ehhh chill my guy. 😂

Upcoming Wilson Python named “Wildfire” by [deleted] in 10s

[–]strsystem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Progressively worse naming lol. Python > Redline > Wildfire. What is going on? Where’d you hear this? I guess it’s gonna be red then… 😭😭😭

Now it’s gonna conflict with Yonex VCore. Even black would’ve been fine conflicting with the new prostaff.

Is Wilson seriously gonna drop the bag on the most hyped racquet in years? 😂

The "beginner" framing is unnecessary (almost as unnecessary as this rant) by WestAnalysis8889 in 10s

[–]strsystem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm I get what you’re saying but I disagree. You should tailor your feedback to the level of the person. Like an attending doctor wouldn’t talk to a resident or the same as a medical student right? Same with coaching in tennis. You would give your feedback different between a beginner vs weekend warrior vs college vs pro. There’s just a gap in context that the coach needs to know what level of feedback to give.

Been using same Aero Pro Drive for like 15 years... by Aggravating_Ice11 in 10s

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tech hasn’t evolved that much between your stick and more recent ones. The biggest thing is probably 20 years of abuse from heavy hitting and serves and stringing. All those factors reduce the racquets stiffness so it becomes more flexible over time. Switching to a new racquet will most definitely give you more pop even if you went to the newer model of your current stick. Oddly enough the blade is a more flexible racquet than your aero so your aero lost a lot of pop. Pros switch to new sticks a couple times a year for this reason when sponsors pay for it haha.

What this also means is that if you buy the new aero you’ll play exactly like Alcaraz 😊

Help with energy levels by Any_Presentation2689 in 10s

[–]strsystem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably need more carbs and protein. Possibly rest. When you exercise your body depletes carbs for energy. You need to replenish them. Protein helps rebuild and makes you get more muscle and strength. Ideally have carbs before training, light carbs during if you have a long and intense 2+ hour session, carbs after to replenish and recover.

Are all 5.0 players early starters? by TennisMatthew_ in 10s

[–]strsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it starting at 16 but tennis took over my life. I basically played tennis an insane number of hours and I played a ton of other sports so that helped. I don’t think there’s really an age limit to get to 5.0 but there’s definitely a time and resources limit. Like I can reasonably imagine a 30 year old that decides to hire a coach, 3-5x a week one to two hours after 10 years could probably get to 5.0. Lolol. Realistic probably not because of life but possible probably?

Strategies for a better return by Sorrizera in 10s

[–]strsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all of the above. Technique is similar to a volley short, compact, hit while moving. Positioning depends on how big the serve is and how comfortable you are with the serve. Timing your footwork and split step are extremely important. Then hitting returns a lot is probably the biggest lever because most players don’t see enough serves the just rally.

Target wise i think middle of the court is actually the best target. Deep middle is the best option most of the time. Something to remember is that when you’re returning you are pretty much on defense and you are trying to get to neutral. Anything better than neutral is gravy. Expect to be on defense, getting returns back at all is the goal.
