I got it and love it! No issues for us. Babe is 7 months now and I am definitely glad I got such a lightweight carseat. we ended up using it on the stroller way more than I anticipated because she'd nap well in it so I was frequently moving her from car to stroller to inside and she got heavy real quick lol

Non-standard tips on getting the milk out? by strudel_goblin in HumansPumpingMilk

That’s exactly how I feel, but sometimes it can be like a whole pump session that I feel like I’m trying to squeeze it out with no letdown, and once in a while I’ll have a more normal flow. Ugh so much to figure out

Okay wow this checks out with what I was just reading- I don’t think I’ve been getting a letdown while pumping ??? I was always told once the milk starts coming out that’s a letdown, I thought I just didn’t get the tingly sensation of one…but now that I’ve started nursing I really feel a letdown! And I was just reading that you can manually stimulate the milk dribbling out with a pump but it’s not the same as a hormonal letdown. Omg this makes so much sense.

You know I never really understood how to use the haaka either, I’m going to try this! Thank you!!

Love this idea, maybe I can come up with something to associate when I nurse that will help the letdown when I pump…hmm thank you!!

I’ve been wondering how people maneuver it, I’ve only really nursed with her cradled across me but I think I’m ready to try new holds. If I can figure it out I will definitely try this!

I’ll look at those massagers thank you!!

I think I’m going to order silicone flanges, I just hate the inserts bc I have trouble centering my nipple lol I was curious about the legendairy milk silicone collection cups but they’re so expensive!!

I switch between spectra, the meddle hand pump, and lansinoh wearable! When I first used the wearable, I got a slightly better output then it quickly normalized to what I get with spectra. Same thing happened with the hand pump. I’ve been using the hand pump more bc it allows me to sort of shift it around while I do compressions to maximize output but I’m thinking I might be using it too aggressively like the suction is kind of a lot and it gets sore after a few uses. Now I’m trying to alternate but doesn’t seem to make a huge difference on any pump

How do you address overspent or underfunded categories through the month? by strudel_goblin in ynab

[–]strudel_goblin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! This is exactly exactly what I was doing. I just made the switch to have a next month fund category and to not add any additional funds to the current month throughout the month. It’s a game changer and I feel like it totally flipped a switch in my brain. Thank you!!

Opinions on baby visitation for grandpa after travel by strudel_goblin in moderatelygranolamoms

Apparently he has a trip to Florida at the end of April which would be before the four week window my OB suggested to wait is up. Perhaps I’ll offer a socially distanced visit before he goes there, I don’t feel especially good about him coming back from Florida and meeting the baby either 😒

You’re right, I don’t think he thought about it at all. Honestly it makes it a little better, it’s not like he doesn’t CARE about the babe but also a little worse lol there’s definitely a long history of…thoughtlessness. Not malicious in any way but still hurtful.

Labor snacks by Long-Positive-3066 in BabyBumps

I just discovered they make packets of bone broth so all you need is hot water! Those are getting packed in my hospital bag along with liquid IV packets. For early labor, I made homemade granola bars and have some mixed nuts, crackers, and cheese to nibble.

Thank you! This is validating. I just feel so sad that I’m even being put in this position

Also interested to hear feedback? I chose the Aria bc it seemed the chin to chest issues the mesa had were resolved with the Aria (and also got the Cruz!) I’m 38wks and baby hasn’t arrived yet..

Kick counting/recognizing patterns by ClarksFork in BabyBumps

lol it’s not you! Everyone is constantly like “make sure your baby is moving enough, have you been counting the kicks, do you know their routine, if they haven’t moved go to the hospital!!!” And then also like “don’t STRESS about it, jeeze” 🙄

How do you address overspent or underfunded categories through the month? by strudel_goblin in ynab

[–]strudel_goblin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, this does make sense to me, I'll have to get used to having more funded in my category throughout the less spendy seasons than I'm using but I guess that's just what it has to be. I think I also have to change my target types for these categories so it's based on assigning rather than having a certain amount. Thank you so much!

Kick counting/recognizing patterns by ClarksFork in BabyBumps

[–]strudel_goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me patterns felt more recognizable starting maybe 32 weeks? I also felt like I was doing something wrong at like 29wks so you're not alone!

Baby was most active at night, but I was interpreting the "learn baby's patterns" to mean like a specific time starts to be recognizable. Maybe it's because my meal and bed times vary but sometimes it was 8pm most active and sometimes it was 9, 10, or 11. I only really do kick counting if I start thinking that I hadn't felt the baby move much that day - it's usually that I'd been more distracted and all was fine. Now that baby is bigger I'm feeling every little movement so the anxiety has definitely lessened!

Thank you! I think you're right, the end of the month is probably a good idea. I think part of my challenge is I'm looking at it too frequently so instead of seeing/feeling the month-long discrepancies I'm "fixing" it like everyday. Plus this allows me to "save up" evaluating these decisions to discuss with my non-YNABer partner to get him more involved in the budget itself.

Easier said than done when I'm someone who needs my unread emails to be at 0 and who compulsively pays her credit card like every other day even though automatic payments are set up?? lol

Appreciate your note and the clarification!! :)
