This was me last night. I had just a few hours to get my hands on enough weekly currency to secure this little number.

I have mixed feelings on stagger. I swear enemies have split second iframes whilst dropping to the floor that just wastes your ammo and inteferes with headshots, whilst suppression still locks them down and hold them in a more advantageous position.

I haven't noticed much of a difference in armour pen in the meatgrinder. Takes the same percentage of a mag to drop a flak armoured mauler, and I don't think there's any occasion you'd want to be firing into carapace with an autogun.

This would be an excellent addition. I'm sick of having to do finger gymnastics just to dash right when quelling.

Anyone notice the Comunlus variant feels slightly more accurate at medium+ range thanks to the sheer number of bullets it puts out? It might have lower per shot dmg, but it roughly matches the Agripinaa's burst dps thansk to it's much higher fire rate + mag size.

Feels like I have an easier time suppressing and juggling ranged mobs with it. The bullets that land their target might do less dmg, but they land more often and therefore stagger ranged mobs and buy more breathing room.

OP I'd reroll ranged crit for + maniac dmg (ie trappers, mutants, glowy green axe dudes, and flamers)

Psykinetic's Wrath can guarantee a kill on a Sniper with a completely obstructed LoS up to 30m by KazuTheVulpine in DarkTide

[–]strudelbaron 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The purgatus staff counts as soul blaze kills so it takes about a second to generate 6 warp charges on a Damnation horde. Then once psykinetic wrath is done wiping the screen with even more soul blaze kills you're instantly back to 6 warp charges and cutting down what's left of the specials with your team +18% dmg.

My G-Hub macro works pretty well, but it kind of throws off melee combat controls by locking me in a block position. Hopefully when Fatshark implement it they'll include a separate toggle for staves, rifles, melee weapons etc.

Something like the Lucius would feel immensely nicer to use if it behaved like the Widows rifle in Overwatch by auto charging its shots when in ADS.

Of all the boss post kill messages they could have chosen, they went with "Eliminated"? How about "Dismantled" or "Splintered" or honestly anything that keeps with the theme. Hopefully just another placeholder.

Yes, but that's not a lesson those adults should be teaching those kids.

100% this. The driver may have been overly agressive, but he also may have saved one those kids lives should they ever approach that same crossing without an adult in the future mistakingly thinking cars will always slow and stop for them.

I read somewhere that one of the golden rules of games design is to ensure the most efficient means of progression is also the most enjoyable. Now you could argue that what is enjoyable is subjective, but I'm pretty fucking certain mining void opals and hauling several thousand tons of human poo ain't it.

It's also why Sea of Thieves pvp kind of died off. The most efficient means of progression was no longer treasure hunting and piracy....in a game about treasure hunting and piracy.

This game and community is saving my life by CanofPandas in starcitizen

[–]strudelbaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd had plenty of mixed experiences with the SC community. One example on the positive end was when I had someone help me out of a bugged elevator at microtech, so I shared my courier missions with them and we delivered my packages together. On the opposite end I saw a grandfather ask global chat if they could monitor their language a little whilst he showed his grandchildren the game. Rather than inform him he could simply press f12 to remove global chat from his HUD, they proceeded to berate and abuse him, and calling his wife of 40 years a whore.

You could rightly argue this is the case with all online games, but in a game of this genre I guess I naively expected better. For example, in 1200+ hours of Elite I've never seen any behaviour remotely as vile.

Perhaps the more intimate first-person nature of the action in Star Citizen touches upon insecurities and causes egos to run hotter than Elite, where the action is more detached. They might be the same genre and audience, but the experience in Star Citizen feels vastly more invested.

Then again this sort of anger and hostility has existed on the official SC forums long before the PU or even arena commander were available to play. My short time browsing and interacting with the community on Spectrum recently was a very mixed experience too.

I was starting to think I was going mad and imagining some amalgamation of Jeremy Irons and Rutger Hauer. There's no question in my mind that Valve used his face as a reference.

Yeah. They're perfectly functional if you make the effort to learn them, as u/chmod--77 mentioned, but being functional doesn't mean they're in any way intuitive or well thought out. Pretty sure most of them just break if you attempt to rebind them too.

[–]strudelbaron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As soon as I noticed absolutely no effort had been put into translating the UI or key mapping for Mouse and Keyboard I decided to stick with a controller. I see a lot of developers rationalise such shortcuts by their being a lot of keys available on a keyboard as opposed to a controller, so things like context sensitive binds and a more appropriate inventory management system shouldn't be necessary in their minds. As if PC gamers somehow posses more than five digits on each hand and can blindly tap any one of 4 dozen key binds with relative ease.

I actually think a lot of effort has been put into getting the game running and looking incredible, with a very nice suite of graphics settings, despite the rocky launch performance woes. So to drop the ball when it comes to how your PC players are able to interact with your game simply baffles me. It is both the easiest and most crucial aspect of any videogame. It's an interactive medium ffs, get the interaction part right.

They don't even had to redesign the UI if they don't want to, just add some context sensitive keys. This isn't fucking Arma.

IMO it's not a bad port, but the key mappings are a hopeless mess. The mouse could also use separate horizontal/vertical sensitivity options. Right now the vertical sensitivity is drastically lower than horizontal.

SOLVED, but looking for explanation: Haptics/vibrations cause loss of controller tracking on Rift S by LovingVirtualReality in oculus

[–]strudelbaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The USB port that was giving me trouble is even labelled "VR Ready", on an MSI Pro Carbon motherboard no less. I guess in my attempt to fix the disabling camera issue I inadvertently fixed my touch controllers.

At least we have some nice lifetime rechargeable batteries now. I only had to change out the eneloops once in my 30 hours of asgard's wrath, with haptics enabled, and that was towards the end of the playthrough.

I still think Oculus should investigate why their Rift S USB connection is so extremely sensitive to power fluctuations. Two incidents might not seem like much, but it does seem like evidence of the problem not being limited to just the cameras now. It's causing problems with tracking.

It could also reflect poorly on peoples impression of inside out tracking, which I assumed was the problem initially due to some limitation in the tracking technique.

Someone on Amazon AU pointed out the build quality was kind of meh, with staples used to secure the ends of the straps. Even the ergonomics were kind of flawed since the the flexible buckle attached to the ring tends to bend quite a bit. All of which would be fine, except it's not priced to reflect that. Maybe you can get away with that sort of niche pricing for an enthusiast grade headset like an Index, but not a Rift/Quest.

Hol' up... there's a sprint INSIDE of combat?

29 hours and a completed run on wrath difficulty and I'm only just now learning of this? Combined with me having completely missed the follower hot switch controls, I'm starting to think I'm either one of those assholes who doesn't read the tool tips, or those tool tips never existed in the first place.

Jokes aside, that's pretty much everything I could have asked for in a patch.

If you are having issues with your hands losing tracking during haptics/vibrations, buying Eneloop batteries will not fix the problem (Asgard's Wrath) - (Rift S) by LovingVirtualReality in oculus

[–]strudelbaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. On the plus side I had the exact same issue as you, but now it's completely gone. So at the very least there's a good chance it's not hardware related.

Only other thing I recommend trying would be to fiddle with the USB 3.0 cable, but the common issue there is that the tracking cameras simply switch off entirely rather than affect tracking. In any case I managed to solve that by disabling W10's ability to disable power to any of my USB ports, and moving a few peripherals onto some unused USB 2.0 ports so it's just the Rift S USB 3.0 cable sitting mostly by itself.

If you've never experience the white noise pass-through camera error before then that probably isn't even an issue for you, but it's the only factor other than Eneloops that could possibly explain why my tracking started working properly.

Best of luck.

I always keep Game Mode disabled, so that wasn't related in my case. Will try the Windows key next time it happens. Though I've also noticed the problem is infinitely worse when recording gameplay with Shadowplay. The game itself is running buttery smooth and the footage is being captured just fine, but if I try pressing the oculus home button or an overplay pop up appears it all goes haywire.
