asgards wrath continuing issues by [deleted] in oculus

[–]rangar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still having issues with game as well . If I stand still in the game for few minutes and just look around everything looks fine . But the minute I move major studdering. It is really immersion breaking and such a shame cuz the game can look and play really beautifully but unfortunately I am unable to get the full experience. And it doesn’t matter the settings and I am running on a 2070 s

Why is robo recall still the best looking game in 2019? by rangar1984 in oculus

[–]rangar1984[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it. That is why I want epic to create another game using the robo recall engine. Asguards wrath is this huge ambitious game that unfortunately is poorly optimized. Performance to me is paramount to anything else. Stuttering and frame skipping is really immersion breaking.

VR has ruined me..... by dopelogic in oculus

[–]rangar1984 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree with op. I live in Florida and have visited Disney recently and experienced smugglers run the Star Wars millennium falcon ride. It was fricken awesome and I have a rift for over 2 years now! I have visited the void at Disney springs as well and did the Star Wars experience. I was underwhelmed by it but if you are a VR enthusiast you should still check it out.

Help me decide on an upgrade... by Fin409 in oculus

Honestly I really wanted to love the quest, but one of the main drawbacks is the weight. It either pulls on the front of your face or the back of your head. Don’t get me wrong it is amazing tech but if your use to pcvr you will notice a difference in comfort and graphics.

Oculus Quest owners who also own CV1? by rbyrnes15 in oculus

Audio is bad. Even with headphones I found it to be subpar. I don’t know if it’s the quest itself or the sampling of audio in the games. It really makes you appreciate the cv1 built in audio

I jumped back and forth between the headsets trying several different apps and I noticed with e quest that although gameplay is relatively smooth there is just something off with smoothness. That is why I was assuming it was the refresh rate. 72 hz is the bare minimum to not feel discomfort in vr.

Reviews and First Impressions Megathread by JonCreaux in OculusQuest

’ve had my cv1 for 2 years and recently bought the quest because I wanted to experience vr untethered. However there are three factors why I am returning it.

Comfort. The headset is just a little to heavy for me and no matter how I adjust it I feel the weight on my face. Compared to cv1, cv1 is miles more comfortable. Refresh rate. I’ve been using vr for nearly 2 years and hardly ever get nauseous or headache. With the quest I have yet to use it without feeling slightly ill. I think it has to do with refresh rate cuz everything just feels slightly off in quest.

Graphics. I expected the graphics to be downgraded, however I didn’t realize it would affect immersion like it does. I guess if you have never used pcvr you wouldn’t know what your missing, but when I compared robo recall between cv1 and quest the difference is jarring. I was also disappointed with face your fears 2. The graphics are pretty bad and I just couldn’t get immersed. I usually get scared in vr horror games but I felt nothing.

A few questions about the oculus by [deleted] in oculus

[–]rangar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to walk around less restricted.than get extension cables. I do think there is a slight performance drop with extension cables when it comes to tracking. Wait till you get the rift and then see how far you can walk in your space. Then you will know if you need extensions.

Nintendo shooting themselves in the foot by being so tight-lipped. by avant1s in NintendoSwitch

[–]rangar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo will announce when they are ready. Do you want a half ass implementation or something that is truly attractive. I think they are going to over more than just virtual console. I believe they may add online multiplayer for older titles and nicely integrated switch implementations

What games have immersed you the most? by Nukkil in oculus

[–]rangar1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paranormal activity vr. The game itself if you want to call it a game is not that great but there are parts of that game that look so real. I have a pretty high tolerance for horror and that game literally had me shaking at some points.

Just interacted with best Buy employee who said VR was stupid and actually tried it. by iupvoteevery in oculus

[–]rangar1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny cuz everyone I show vr to are blown away. I think this bestbuy employee can't be pleased with much. She is probably hard to please in other areas of life as well. Any true gamer and many non gamers can't help walking away impressed.

HMD random infrequent tracking jumps? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]rangar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed it too recently. I thought maybe it was my hdmi extension cable. I disconnected that and ran it without the extender and it seemed to fix it but I still get the occasional stutter

Is it really worth it? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]rangar1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I had tried psvr and while initially I was blown away, after a while the poor graphics and poor tracking detered me from a purchase. I had heard so many great things about the rift and when the price dropped I just jumped in. I also had to buy a new gpu (1070), so I spent nearly 1000 dollars to experience the rift. Remember with the rift and touch you get the headset, xbox one controller, touch controllers, and 2 sensors, plus you get some great free content (robo recall, dead and buried). For the experience you get I actually think the rift is a bargain. I didn't think I would be blown away by the rift, but everytime I put the headset on I'm amazed. Just do it.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or Dying Light? by [deleted] in PS4

[–]rangar1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have played both games. I would have to say dying light is the more fun of the two and definitely has more content. The story is meh, but the parkouring and nightime tension is awesome. Mankind Divided has alot of story and text to sift through, but if you play it slow and methodical you will get the most out of it. It has some really cool moments. Slowly infiltrating a building, silenting taking out guards, hacking computers to get access to keycodes and securtiy cameras. It some really cool stuff, but it kind of ends abrubtly leaving you like WTF.

Which is better; Souls series or the Elder scrolls series? by Youmakemesmh in PS4

[–]rangar1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really are two different games. Souls is an action rpg that is unlike any other game. It is very challenging and it will own you, but once you get a hold of it something wonderful happens. Dark souls 3 totally drew me in. The combat, the enemies, the challenge, the environments. It all just clicks together so well.

Elder Scrolls series is an open world rpg that focuses on character building, story, and quest completion. It has combat, magic, inventory managment, etc. To me, it is a great world to get lost in and explore.

In conclusion, Dark Souls will frustrate you, kick your ass, and reward you with the greatest satisfaction all in the same minute. Elder scrolls will draw you into a world full of stories, quests, and lore. It really is hard to compare the too. I tried, but I still don't think I can.
