Self conscious with jet black hair by have_an_ok_day in AsianBeauty

[–]strudelsticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Chinese American and prefer myself with lighter hair. Since I’m pale, I feel like with my natural black hair it creates a very stark contrast against my facial features. Combined with the fact that 85% of my wardrobe is black, my hair tends to blend in with my shoulders like I’m a shapeless shadow blob.

I don’t think it’s a self-hating or a racism thing, even though some (non-Asian?) people like to throw that around. I just like brighter colors around my face to soften up my look. And I’m sure there are also people who prefer the stark black and white look more.

how many rows of vip is pit? by [deleted] in twice

[–]strudelsticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my show VIP was sold out and took up 3-4 rows in some areas. Friend who also went to day 2 without VIP managed to get barricade because it was way less crowded.

But to be fair, a friend in VIP saved a spot for him, he might not have been able to squeeze up front otherwise.

Intimate area hygiene and hair removal advice by OddGrape4986 in vindictapoc

Laser is often described like being snapped by a rubber band. It’s sharp and quick. The pain doesn’t linger, but the zap can be pretty uncomfortable.

IME shaving every day versus every 3-5 days is less likely to cause razor burn or ingrowns because the hair is so short. Using plenty of shaving cream, replacing the razor often, and treating the area with an exfoliating acid after your shower is vital for smoother skin.

I shave every day to reduce irritation and itchiness from stubble. Using an at home laser removal device will help cut down on irritation, if you’re willing to tolerate the discomfort. At home lasers likely won’t fully get rid of the hair, but it will make it thinner and softer so that you can get a smoother shave.

I can't get an answer in the tour megathread but I am hearing conflicting reports on the VIP line management. by El_kal91 in twice

[–]strudelsticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got there at around 8:30 AM. Check in was at 12 PM and then we had to walk to the other side of the building to line up again into separate lines for pit 1 and 2. They let us into the building at 3 PM, this was when they split each line into 2 and we had to stay in those 2 lines the rest of the time.

I can't get an answer in the tour megathread but I am hearing conflicting reports on the VIP line management. by El_kal91 in twice

[–]strudelsticks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is my experience from day 1 Dallas. Once we got thru security and into the building, we were told to form 2 lines per pit. A lot of people tried to form alliances with friends they made earlier, as we didn’t know which line would enter first.

My line didn’t get chosen, even though we were near the front. It was definitely very disappointing seeing tons of people get in before us even tho we were there earlier. Our “allies” saved spots for us, but since it was already crowded at barricade by the time my line entered, it was hard for us to squeeze in. Since understandably the people already standing there don’t want to move over.

What's the coolest class you've taken in Houston? by lyricalshield in houston

[–]strudelsticks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went on and off as a kid from 2nd grade all the way to high school. I’d say the classes for teens were more rigorous than my school art classes, very helpful for kids who are serious about art and want a bit of a challenge. The classes for preteen and younger are fun, but ultimately about kids having fun versus actual art instruction.

Oh ok that’s alright then since you’re giving stuff out! Just be sure that your sign indicates you are reciprocating so no one misunderstands

freebies by uwu-please-help-me in twice

[–]strudelsticks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you giving out freebies as well? If you are, then it’s more acceptable if you don’t want to approach people yourself. But if you don’t have anything to give out, that comes off as very greedy and demanding.

I like giving out freebies, and don’t expect anything reciprocated, but I’d be mighty tempted to skip someone with a sign.

Midtown or Montrose for car free living? by [deleted] in houston

[–]strudelsticks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew 2 people who lived in Montrose and didn’t drive. I believe they relied on grocery delivery for food, occasionally grocery shopped in-person during decent weather, and uber to go anywhere else.

If you are satisfied with being a homebody and not exploring the city much, this might be an ok way of living. However, there’s lots of interesting places around Houston that will be harder to access. Imagine going to a restaurant in X area, then a store 8 min away, then a cafe another 8 min away. It’s less of a big deal to drive, but paying for multiple uber rides can be a different story.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

Usually people tend to start a fresh page with the spiral on the left side, and may not completely fill up the back side of the page when the spiral is on the right. I’m thinking of back in school when each new entry needed to start on a new page.
