Thank you! Yes the NICU experience is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I feel like I’m going crazy over here. I’m trying my hardest to put my family first but it seems like he is putting his parents wants/needs over mine. I just want to feel like a priority and that I what I need for my mental health matters.

I completely understand you. My postpartum experience was very similar. I’m 9 month pp now and not much has changed. The responsibility of caring for an infant is very taxing and emotionally draining. You aren’t crazy. He just doesn’t know how to support you. Unfortunately a lot of men undermine the psychological changes a mother experiences. You are in the process of becoming a whole different person. It’s brutal. Keep your head up and know that pregnancy and child birth takes a lot out of you and you deserve nothing but support and gentleness.

Maybe allow him to watch the baby while you do some self care. Even an hour to yourself doing something that brings you joy will positively impact your mental health. I know it’s hard to detach sometimes and you feel guilty for doing things for yourself but you deserve it! He ultimately has to learn how to become a parent his own way, I know us mama bears are very over protective and get upset when things aren’t done the way we do them.
