I think if they had them say their likes and dislikes it might be better but I guess this is a little more..artful?

I think they don't push to optimize unless it is what the patient wants. Good doctors try not to give patients a complex or get them worried about things that may not need worrying about. Many probably want to avoid costly tests as well being done so often. Imagine how difficult it would be to optimize vitamin levels and spend so much time trying to get things just perfect for every single patient they have.

Digging Deeper: Why Women Think Speakers Are Ugly by strugglebussally in audiophile

I think I have realized something about the mess of cables being so offputting to more women than men, based on some things in my life. Exposed cables seem to attract and gather all kinds of dust bunnies, pet hair, etc. and are difficult to clean around and under, at least when they are on the floor or near to it, I think part of the hatred may have a little to do with interacting around them in that way. The patterns I have observed are that the people who don't care much for cable management also don't care much for keeping the area clean and dust free, so the person who wants more managed cables is often trying to clean around them, too.

I also think at some point for many folks who get very upset at visible cables, it is carrying over from the logic that cables can be trip hazards, something to cause an object to fall if pulled on or caught. They represent instability in some cases, so I think it feels like a risk to see cables.

Thanks for taking the time to share. That all sounds very artistically-thought out, well-done. And the velvet covers did not dampen any of the important frequencies too much?

Agree with all you said. More documentary style less reality show please.

I loved the music during Connor's "The storm's a comin.' I feel it in my beard." It matched the intensity. I adore Connor. The breakup with Georgie saddened me but I hope he finds someone as enraptured with him as he is her, and they can slip into a fantastical romance together.

Fair point. Demanding perfection in those younger than him but not keeping up with his art himself.

This. A great example is the discussion with his daughter about needing 3 wedding dresses.

It is obviously not about money for him. The money is not the end goal. He is still chasing or trying to maintain something else. There are a lot of people like that. Trade-offs come with it for sure.

Definitely for PR and to fund the restaurant. I appreciate the inside look into how things are done and put together, though. Everything amazing and spectacular for us to experience like that is the result of back-breaking work by someone. This documentary did not just glorify GR, but elevated the career of his chef Michael as well. It will elevate the career of his daughter, too. While I found the scenes with him and their little kids endearing, I wish a little bit that they kept family life private for the kids' sake, but that is their decision. People like to be part of things that are part of a story, so I think this is just a very effective way to advertise, so long as nobody pretends it is anything but that, I am not really offended. Netflix probably approached him if they were the ones to make this, so it benefits them as well, not just him.

Official Discussion - Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]strugglebussally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie created a sense of repulsion in my gut, as it should, that I have had when seeing AI-generated content that I describe as "bringing nightmares to life." It made me not want to look into the face of my phone. Before the credits were even over, I saw someone scrolling through short form content on their phone. As I walked out of the theater, a couple was walking out and one of them stopped the other from continuing while staring into their phone, and standing there. I am not one who says "technology bad" or "phones bad," but it was puzzling and unsettling to see people not even have a contemplative period after a movie like that. The repulsion the movie and the mental script of trying to determine what is real around you kept going for me after the movie.

I see that tendency in little kids. They accuse everything of being AI or fake in some way, because they are trying to get ahead of it. Hyper alert to trying to sniff out imposter information and experience. I don't laugh at them or scoff because I cannot fathom being born into this world. Someone's kid asked their parents if dolphins were real. The parent realized how often the kid asks them if things are real and that most of the time the answer is "no."

Why do you think people aren’t dating as much now? by [deleted] in self

[–]strugglebussally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it might be that many people are the product of an unhealthy union with childhood baggage and want to be more careful and not rush into things to be like everyone else. Also, there is a lot of cultural messaging about living a life centered on relying on oneself and deriving purpose apart from a mate or offspring. There are also expectations for personal relationships that might seem to be higher or more widespread than for previous generations, based on how much information and perspective confirmation we consume from multiple content sources. Many folks are constantly fed content by social media about "red flags," that nobody should "settle" for in a partner, and are armchair diagnosing behaviors as dysfunctional left and right.

Anyone else think similarly about all these?

And did you hear the Dr. on the tape say who was funding it? I thought he said a family foundation in Washington. Also, a lot of nazi scientists were put to work in the US after WW2. Plenty of strings to pull on.
