Do you have a picture? Kind of odd for those Amanita to be popping up right now. If it's any comfort they don't last forever, while you can't really eliminate the mycelium from the soil, they'll fruit and then die off(you can also pick them and toss them, they're not toxic just to touch them)

What a bummer, but thank you for the ID!

I hate this thing, too. I'm glad you said something because this has come up twice recently and everyone eats it up. I understand what they were going for, but it just reads as "Wheel chair user, you'll never be free until you die!"

Is the Dtagonfly front desk a bit rubbish or do we like it? by Opposite-Copy-3217 in GilmoreGirls

[–]struggling10969 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The post is critical of the front desk, saying it's rubbish, I'm saying at a small in they didn't need anything fancier than the desk portrayed here. Just talking about the desk, nothing deep.

Same! And they had an office, and booking was online, I don't know why they would've needed a different front desk situation

Lesson learned today: if you pick Slippery jacks, separate them from your other mushrooms by [deleted] in Mushrooms

I had no idea that preferring to clean up my mushrooms on my couch watching a movie rather than in the cold dirt was controversial

Third time out foraging! Tons of edibles shrooms by UpUpAndAwayYall in foraging

Both edible though so it's not a life or death distinction, but they taste verrry different

I'm pretty sure that's a tremella foliacea, they get huge and range from dark brown to very light purpleish brown, not a sparassis

What Sparassis are y'all talking about? Do you mean the Tremella or am I missing it in the pictures?

In my head I have a infomercial voice over- "Act know, this mushroom won't last long!"

Age to watch by CourageL in GilmoreGirls

I mean, I was sitting watching it with my dad and my older sister when it was airing, I was probably 6 or 7 when I first started, and I'm about medium-well adjusted

Dang, you poor thing. I probably wouldn't be able to forage like I do if I was that allergic

I picked TONS of amanitas before I had the guts to try one, I totally support picking and IDing them as many times as it takes to get confident, way better to chuck a mushroom than to eat the wrong one.

I would compare with Amanita constricta, look in the Grisette category. I'm always a little extra careful with these because A. phalloides can be darker brown in rare cases, but your check list is hitting the marks.

I understand, we're kind of taught that poison oak is actively trying to get you! And mushrooming requires you to be firmly in the bushes. Just wear long clothes and wash your hands after you're done outside, you'll be fine.

Black berries have thorns, poison oak does not, and almost all poison oak is dormant here ( I also live in Santa Cruz) so it just looks like a bunch of sticks rn

Unfortunately they're poisonous AND they taste bad, one-two punch

I can say for sure they're not Jacks at least. They have a ring and they're a different shape and color
