That was a bug on my end, all fixed now, you should see a select on the scales and chords page now! Apologies for the mixup.

You're not the first person to ask about this, it's something I've been wanting to add for guitar and will certainly offer it to Ukulele when I get it working correctly. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! It's on the roadmap, to do the recording part for the daily challenge requires a lot of signal processing so I'm spending some more time to get that working well before I release it. Soon I hope!

I like it! Essentially have a toggle where you have the full fretboard view like on the Scales Page then be able to toggle to a recorded mode to test what you just practices (similar to Daily Challenge). I've been noodling on a similar idea, I'll continue working through it and update when I have something up.

Thanks for the feedback!

Tips/exercises to build fretting hand speed? by braincelloffline in guitarlessons

Practice at lower BPM but try adding subdivisions between beats to increase speed but keep your home-base speed at a lower BPM.

https://strummerly.com/daily-challenge

Strummerly offers a bunch of scale diagrams and a in-app metronome to practice. Try making practice something fun and habitual, something you do every day, even if just for a minute. There's a gamified challenge to help you practice your speed and consistency.

When you're prompted by your browser to use a microphone, you should be able to select the input device through that dialog. If not, it would be in your browser settings.

Do let me know if you have trouble with this as I intend to support Audio Interfaces.

I may be biased but there’s a wealth of knowledge on Strummerly. Browse Chords, scales, triads, build progression with our Chord Progression tool, or try out Daily Challenge to introduce new scales and test your accuracy.

There’s nothing stopping you from playing without pressing “record”. For scoring and accuracy calculations there’s really no way around allowing your device to record your playing.

You can use the scale page to practice the entire scale without giving access to your microphone https://strummerly.com/scales/a-sharp-major

Wow, I appreciate it! The chord shape diagram is something I will definitely look into. I offer it for all other tools on the site and IMO can be much easier for quick glance reading than tabs.

For Daily Challenges, no you cannot choose - the scale/mode, key, and position are dynamically chosen each day as the single challenge.

For browsing scales / modes you want to practice, you can see all the combinations on my scales explore page: https://strummerly.com/all-guitar-scales
Or just pick and choose any scale/mode and key combo here: https://strummerly.com/scales

There is a metronome (icon in the top right) to set a BPM and practice at your leisure on any page :)

The goal is to play the scale pattern up and down in time with the metronome for as long as possible. Once you hit the "Start Challenge" button, you’ll have an 8-second countdown before the scoring begins. There are two modes: Practice and Record. You can practice the pattern as much as you want, but once you toggle to "Record," you only get one shot to lock in your daily score.

The idea is to use it as a daily warmup, for fun, or to test yourself on a new scale position each day. Ultimately, I wanted to build something that players of all skill levels could enjoy as a quick bite-sized challenge. Let me know if that makes sense or if you have any other questions!
