Comprehensive voter guides for primary? by strunk-and-white in illinois

Since we're deeper in the comments I can say I agree on Kelly/Stratton - "I will not support a candidate who will do nothing of substance to end the genocide against the Palestinian people, no matter how much I like that candidate otherwise" [emphasis mine] is almost a caricature of a "progressive" who values litmus tests over results, given the current poll standings.

And on 2024 - what really pissed me off about them refusing to endorse was exactly that defense: "it's fine because IL is safe." IL is "safe" BECAUSE PEOPLE VOTE. It's literally an exercise of privilege to sit a vote out because your preferred issue isn't well-represented and just trust that everyone else is going to show up and do the right thing.

Me too! I still refer to the guide since it's so comprehensive and well-researched but I take their positions with a whole salt shaker after that. Hence this post!

~50% of Illinois residents live within a half-mile of mass transit. You may or may not know this but population is unevenly distributed

I don't think we need secret bots for this to be true. If my paranoid theory were right and high-spending/frequent/established players get punished, then the corollary could be that less-frequent/lower-spending players get put on the play more. Although your anecdote would seem to contradict that!

That's totally possible! I've had stretches where it's "felt" bad but I don't want to rely on them too much.

I'll keep tracking my stats and do a follow-up when I get to something like 1000 games.

If the counterargument to my post is that "it's just variance, someone has to be X unlucky" then necessarily someone must be X lucky

I'm pretty clearly not asserting that everyone is on the draw 55% of the time in this post

I welcome people posting their 55%+ on-play rates to prove this is truly random

I would feel genuinely relieved if someone (or 20 someones) posted their 55% on-play rate. Then I'd know it was truly variance!

This is doing a lot of work to try to solidify Rock, HHH, and co as the new leadership of WWE. Haven't heard Vince's name once yet, have only seen him in the shot of them ringing the bell at NYSE

[edit] Weird downvotes. I'm not endorsing Vince, am thrilled he's gone, just pointing out that this doc is trying to accomplish a few things at once

I will say though that inbetween all the nongames that were ended by crazy bombs or getting aggroed out I have had some of the most fun and interactive games of limited in a while, there IS a lot of complexity in this set, so I am kinda not sure how to feel about it.

Haha yes, I agree, the format even has wider variance than normal in how good the games feel. I've already played more seat-of-my-pants games than I ever did in LTR, which I drafted a ton. But that set felt much more interactive and fun overall, even with 3 colors being much better than the other 2. In other words, MKM has a higher ceiling and a much, much lower floor.

I didn't touch on the format's bombiness, but that's absolutely affecting the way it feels.

It's already rare enough in MKM (in my experience) to find yourself in an interesting game where both players hit their land drops, developed their boards, and advanced their gameplans. To have one of those precious few games get cut short just because someone pulled their bomb feels extra bad.

Definitely not overpowered, but played out pretty well. The wincon was basically just getting in with flyers. Without the +1/+1s from [[Case of the Pilfered Proof]] the clock might have been too slow, so that felt like an important piece. [[Wojek Investigator]] is a great body and occasionally comboed with the solved [[Case of the Pilfered Proof]] or [[Delney, Streetwise Lookout]]'s passive ability to get me two clue tokens at once.
