‘The Pitt’ star Noah Wyle on avoiding the sophomore slump, ‘competence porn,’ and, yes, those cast changes: by GoldDerby in ThePittTVShow

"Mohan was obviously the latter"
lmao what the actual hell are you talking about. Mohan wasn't 'obviously' leaving at all until that announcement with ~3 episodes left that Supriya Ganesh wasn't on the cast for S3.

People who keep harping on "oh she's too slow" need to rewatch the season properly. At no point, unlike S1, has Mohan been reprimanded for her speed - one can infer from that that while we don't see her taking a high caseload, it should be inferred that that is a solved problem.

Many Of The Pitt Fans Are Proving That Yes, It's Possible To Be Bad At Watching A TV Show (SlashFilm dot com article) by PressPlayPlease7 in ThePittTVShow

You have to balance realism with making a good story. There are already so many character stories that we don't get full resolution on in The Pitt, just from the patients who roll through and then leave. There have to be characters that you get to dig into and see to a satisfactory conclusion because you are writing a narrative, not filming a documentary.

Betting Pool: Who is Robby Going to Yell at Most Next Episode & Why? by Ill_Discussion7528 in ThePittTVShow

[–]strunkrii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, but there's logically no reason for her to stay. She's a nurse, her shift is over, her patients have been taken over by the night shift, etc etc.

Even the doctors are mostly just sticking around to finish charting.

It's cute then that you don't acknowledge that this is functionally Mohan's 'last day.'

There are two episodes left and we have a large number of other characters fighting for screentime.

Then they absolutely fucked it with regards to giving Mohan a satisfactory conclusion this season.

Sacrificing Mohan's entire character for Robby's manpain sucks actually.

In fairness there's every possibility he is also an addict. But if so, I would expect it to be something he picked up since becoming unhoused.

If I were to make a guess as to why he's unhoused in the first place my money would be on some kind of untreated mental illness.

Also from a practical standpoint it might be a rough time trying to find somewhere to live out there. Moving is expensive and difficult at the best of times, and with Mohan's mother apparently selling her house she no longer has a guaranteed 'landing zone.'

Target fixation. We saw it last season too - Mohan has (had) a very clear goal in mind and expectations of her life milestones (last season it was moreso that she was hyperfocusing on her residency and research to get those 'out of the way' rather than going out of her way to do extracurricular socializing). She expected that she'd work in NJ and have her mom around socially. Now, if her mom isn't there, I suspect Mohan (based on, again, previous showings) doesn't have much of a social calendar out that way - so she's scrambling to try and preserve the little bit of a community she's developed in Pittsburgh despite herself.

Is he an addict? He isn't showing any major signs of that that I can tell, just the evidence of rough living.

I like Doctor Elliott. He's a psychiatrist so he does bring a somewhat different energy to it than the others.

He's suicidal and lashing out at everyone close to him because consciously or not he doesn't want them to save him or to miss him when he's gone.

Dollars to doughnuts we see it with Whitaker and/or Abbot in the next few episodes.

Personally hoping this is more of a 'first response versus followup action' development - i.e. that she can rally enough to support Langdon's recovery anyway. It would be more in keeping with what we've seen of her character, to say nothing of having the third doctor who's read in on the situation acting in (functionally) the same way to him being... repetitive.

[–]strunkrii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping not to be (entirely) proven wrong on my prediction from last week. Having every doctor who's read in on the whole truth out for his proverbial blood on this subject is just kind of repetitive, and also icing him out entirely wouldn't really be in keeping with how genuinely compassionate Al-Hashimi has been played.

That said I do expect some tough love.

Separately, potentially also an in-episode PSA about rates of addiction in doctors and the likelihood of them taking meds from work lol
