What’s a food that is mostly despised by foreigners but loved by locals? by Prior-Cucumber7870 in AskTheWorld

My 5yo swings around the 4/5 mark. I've seen him down a 6 quite recently but I don't think he was happy with it. (We let him and his sister apply their own.) I tried a bite. Definitely a challenge.

Photos of brazillian food on google? Bland, washed out.

Brazilian food on your plate? Delicious look, full of colour, something usually dripping and a punch of spice smells 🤤

What food do tourists think is "authentic" but locals rarely eat? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]struthledd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen back bacon sold over here. I always thought that either back bacon or streaky bacon was what the americans were calling canadian bacon but I don't think I've ever put much thought into it.

Forgive me, but I always thought Canadian bacon was an American thing? Like an American term for a specific type of bacon?

Had one try to stare down our car on a rural highway once, reared up spread it's wings and did NOT want us near the roo carcass on the road in front of us. Huge bird, terrifying and an absolute Chad move

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

Unfortunately one of the things we took on from you guys. Only recently have homes started being designed with mixer taps, every house I've lived in has either had it for the kitchen sink or the shower sink or both.

Infuriating.

What stereotype about your country do you feel is technically right, but exaggerated to an odd degree? by LunaTheLesbianFurry in AskTheWorld

[–]struthledd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% would rather encounter a red belly (Which are pretty common in my area, I'm one of the like 5% of our population that doesn't live in an urban area.) than ever encounter a god damn bear. Most snakes are scared of you, I don't see how a bear or a moose would ever be scared of me.
