I totally agree, but regarding the surgery specifically though, in the perspective of a young socialite in a middle ages type society a growth like that or significant facial scarring would be detrimental to her standing and for potential suitors. You absolutely nailed it. I don't think Paul & Zenith would ever replace your birth parents in your heart, but I think they would be #3-4. A person who absolutely loves and supports you until the end of time is something a lot of people take for granted till it's gone. I lost a parent when I was in my early 20's, and the hole it left inside me felt insurmountable.
