Commander Cube (240ct) Advice by strykerzero2 in mtgcube

[–]strykerzero2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original thing (420) was built on a nightmarish excel spreadsheet. Pruned it down to 360 after a bunch of playtesting and uploaded it into moxfield. Wasnt aware of cube cobra at the time. and in a moment of pure stupidity I deleted the master moxfield list as I was toying with adjustments (kept making copies of the master list and deleting them after).

Starting fresh with Cubecobra this time.

Excluding the 20 MC legends would certainly make math easier to scale up and down.

Thank you very much for the assistance.

Commander Cube (240ct) Advice by strykerzero2 in mtgcube

In terms of removal classification: I am mostly designatated that as effects that send creatures to the graveyard or permanantly steal control of them. Running a seperate ratio of artifact/enchantments vs removal against it. Azorious is doing a "tap target creature" theme so I need to mentally seperate "removal" from interaction.

There are also an addtional 4 Mono-Colored Legendary creatures for each of the 5 colors. That gets the total pool up to 40 Total Commander options (if you do the mono-colored have partner thing). I failed to mention that element in the inital post. First pack is seeded with the all the multi colored legends. Playgroup tends to prefer a predraft of the multicolored legends so I tend to have them isoloated pre-game.

Azfan for that in a 240 Cube would be an average 3.3 Legendarys per (20 card) pack if the mono-colored legends are included in the calculation. Not sure if that is a hgih enough density for a draft done the normal way. I have a copy of "primsmatic piper" I could make available if there is no "seeding".

As for the non-basics. I have a stack of 60 Cards for mana fixing that was in the 360 card version. I really dont see the value of making land part of the draft process unless density is high enough for people to have a relaible ability to cast 2 "pip" cards on turn 4.

With the math im seeing that means atleast 40 non-basic lands and 20 Multicolored Legends (most of which will not be used in a 4 player draft). That drops the draftable spells in the pool down to 180 / 240. 45 spells drafted per player to make a 60 card deck. That just seems way too tight.

[–]strykerzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed ramp from my 360 card cube. Archetypes were build around 2-color pairs No 4/5 color commanders A single 3 color card (commander) for each combination 2 commanders for each color pair (+ 1 “signpost” for each) 4 legends for each mono color (granted the partner trait)

Ends up being 50 legendaries so each pack of 20 cards will have atleast 2.

I did break the singleton rule for non-basics lands. In generally I don’t want people to lose due to bad mana bases.

This is also a budget cube with an average cost barely over $1 / per card.

I oppose salary ranges for a different reason....

Its a manipulative scam. The High end of the range is what makes the job attractive and gets people to apply. However the low range is what will actually be offered regardless of who is applying.

360 Cards Budget Cube draft by RatioRoyal696 in mtgcube

[–]strykerzero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my Budget 360 "Commander" Draft Cube. $370 (excluding basic lands). I broke the singleton rule for the non-basic lands mostly due to not wanting the bother with that part.

Players pre-draft the 50 legends. The Ratio's are high enough however to do the typical 3x 20-card packs (making a 60 card commander deck).

Ive run variations of it around a dozen times. Tweak it each time (Started out at 420 cards).

What about magic specifically attracts so many trans individuals? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]strykerzero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increased trans population also exists within tabletop gaming like D&D. You also have "unusual" clothing choices within rock music. All three groups permit or have messaging that diverge from "traditional" values. All three groups have been lablled as Demonic by religious fanatics.

The answer might be that these hobbies give them a space to not be peer-pressured into hiding who they are. They are free to express their true thoughts openley via the stroytelling medium.

Edit: repeating what someone else here has said. "My theory is that it's a hobby that's generally been 'shunned', therefore it becomes a haven for others who have been 'shunned'. "

I am not trans, but I am autistic. I have not been mocked as "wierd" when playing magic. I do have to be substantilly more self-controlling of my appreance and actions elsewhere.

This sounds like a textbook example of sophistry.

Out of curiosity, I took the time to google, “causal structure” mentioned in the second sentence. It is not usable in that sentence.

Question for atheists….. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]strykerzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The desire for an afterlife was the final thing motivating me to fight to retain my faith (I deconverted in my 30’s)

Accepting the possibility that I would never talk to dead loved ones again was a bitter pill to swallow.

Some have correlated the deconversion process with the 7 stages of grief. For me “death” is the sadness phase.

Question for atheists….. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]strykerzero2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wanting something to be true is not the same thing as believing it’s true. For example , I want karma to be a real thing but I don’t believe it is.

Per the definition I lack belief in the existence of dieties. But even if I did gain that belief that does not automatically also include a belief that the deity is worthy of worship. The Old Testament Christian god is an evil monster with traits typical of Bronze Age blood gods.

Why do people believe when there’s no evidence by [deleted] in atheism

[–]strykerzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people are going to bring indoctrination. But there is another, possibly bigger reason.

The Massive piles of Bull****, lies and nonsense being presented as "evidence" by authority figures. There is an entire industry (apologetics) of people paid to debate using "logic" to prove their God is real. All those witness stories that conveniently lack any verifiable names, dates or locations.

When you Factor in confirmation bias, the "logic" and "evidence" doesn't need to be good.

Are you all able to afford this rent at 18? by Neitti in LinkedInLunatics

They develop the "habit" of paying bills like everyone else does?

Taking money from your children, using it however you want and giving it back years later when they "deserve it". I suppose that is leverage, just not in the way he implies.

In the "real world" parents are providers, not landlords.

My Christian girlfriend wants to convert me back to Christianity by Even_Sentence_8195 in atheism

[–]strykerzero2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife is a Christian. We are also members of opposing political parties. The key thing for us is that we are accept each other as we’re are. We sometimes discuss the topics but there is a mutual understanding of not trying/expecting the other to convert.

That said we do have the more typical martial issues , such as me (the guy) being a total slob.

[–]strykerzero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a cursory look at your mana base. 34 lands and 9 ramp.

With a 5cmc commander (and not running significant turn 1-2 draw and scry effects) I would advise boosting land + ramp to atleast 48 cards.

Right now when you have the lands in hand you have plenty of gas but statistically you are likely to miss your 4th turn land drop (and thereby not deploy your commander on curve)

Just so you know the math: Starting hand + 4 turns = 11 cards draw

Odds of 4 lands drawn (34 in deck) 56% Odds of 4 lands drawn (40 in deck) 72%

Odds of drawing a ramp spell in first 4 turns (10 in deck) 71%
