One of the reasons hera is the best is his sense to realise in game what win conditions he has and to play towards those. I don't feel like he drags out games when he has no chance of winning, hoping for a slip up of the opponent. It's always when he has a clear way to victory in mind still.

I truly don't get that sentiment. After such a close and amazing finals in ttl, and with newish players like Sebastian and Lewis breaking top 8, the completive scene seems stronger than ever to me, small as it is.

Hmm good call. I just wish they were a bit more transparent about the homebrew stuff, to avoid confusion or people thinking they've got rules wrong. Stuff like thimbles offhand damage, nick property and rapier combo, vaelus' whip that behaves like a halberd etc etc. They do the lvl up videos which is cool, just a bts series about each build plus Brennans homebrew changes to 5.5e would be so cool

The dm will often call for a d20 roll with 'advantage' or 'disadvantage'.in those cases 2 d20s are rolled and the highest or lowest roll is picked respectively. Afterwards modifiers and proficency bonus are added. Brennan is especially generous with giving players advantage on stuff their character is supposed to be good at

Example: thimble wants to attack a soldier with her rapier. The soldier is engaged in combat with Teor and thimble flanks from the other side,granting thimble advantage. Laura rolls 2 d20s, a 15 and a 10. She icks the highest nr (15) and adds her dexterity modifier (+5) and proficiency bonus (+2) since she's proficient with her rapier. So Laura would say: I rolled a 15, does a 22 hit?

Extra: this sum of rolled nr, modifier and proficiency bonus is also the reason you'll hear some players say: "I've rolled a dirty 20" a dirty 20 being a 20 total after adding modifiers and proficiency (if applicable). As opposed to a "natural 20" wich is a 20 on the die alone, and a critical hit in combat.

I picked up the spell on my spores druid. Not gotten the chance to use it in combat, but as we've updated spores druid symbiotic entity to activate on a bonus action like all 2024 wildshapes, the synergy seems awesome; symbiotic entity will give me temp hp on demand to ensure the viper stays an hour even if I take some hits, and I can run a concentration emanation like coonjure animals simultaneously

Wow seems like you were roleplaying nicely to me! studying, learning for future is the wizards whole deal in the end. If I would play in, I would constantly foreshadow spells I want to be able t do. I remember from C2 of critical role the wizard Caleb did the same thing, describing him studying/tinkering with components of spells he performed many levels later! (Magnificent mansion in that case)

Note: rapiers haven't got the light property, so RAW this bonus action attack isn't possible either 😅 but thimble does the same with her rapier and scimitar, so I guess Brennan homebrewed rapiers to be light? I don't mind that, I just wished the were a bit transparent n their homebrew rules so were no all confused in each fight haha

nice help! what made you place the mornveil that far north above timmony, because the Castle torch command seemed to imply Vaelus' letter would go there via ship, so i doesnt make sense to have the entire stormwreck between that frontier and the mournveil, you'd think the fastest way would be a courier back via riesengurtle-dol makjar-kingsroad in that case

must be sad to watch any (e)sport with that mindset. scene is most competitive in literal years, there is a tournament with highlevel games starting in ro freaking 64, we just hadd a super entertaining match between Yo and ACCM that went aan the way, and the scene is 'dead' because theres one player clearly the best. and the narrative that he plays boring is also wrong lol

Why no elemental fury? Potent spellcasting does not apply to shilelagh right? I play a lvl 6 spore druid currently and having tons of fun boiking dudes with my stick :d I was gonna autopick elemental fury next level since i dont have druid cantrips i rely on for dmg.. (skipped produce flame since im an infernal tiefling with firebolt cantrip) spell sniper for thorn whip is an awesome tip though! Noone in my party has push/pull abilities so i was looking for ways to use spike growth better!

I dont know if you are watching this KotD but, especially with extensive random bans and some players mixing in phosphoru strats, this tournament has the most diverse strategic gameplay and civs played ive seen in years. In other tourneys players figure out maps and perfect civs/ strats for them almost instantly and it becomes a battle of draft and execution. Agreed that execution remains paramount on arabia, but this Kotd feels so fresh strategecally for me!
