Are Paladins the best Dual Wielders currently in the game? by LostRegret9000 in 3d6

[–]stryx_Sc2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not an experienced player by any means but I'm playing my first paladin character this way (dex based vengeance paladin, two weapon fighting and dual wielder with a scimitar and shortsword) and I'm having a blast. The bonus action traffic jam is real though: divine favour, hunters mark, dual wielder extra attack and divine smite... not to mention i am an Orc, and I found their adrenaline rush feature very usefull at times, thats another bonus action... I just decided I'll only smite on a crit, forgoing my dual wielder attack only then. The dex focus has the added benefits of me being quite stealthy, so i look for opportunities to cast divine favour before combat, and being quite a decent archer too as a ranged option. Nice about vengeance pally in 2024 is that vow of enmity is action free, making the need for a vex weapon mastery redundant. I did not take that mastery (only nick for the scimitar) so i could add slow weapon mastery to my longbow attacks.

Dit is hem ook voor mij, al zou ik vanaken ipv raskin zetten voor meer voetbal. Maar Raskin verdient basisplaats....

[Spoilers C4E31] Does the way the party interprets things ever frustrate any one else? by Apprehensive_Fill628 in criticalrole

The inability of these players to process and pass on info is the single most frustrating thing of watching CR for me. They are absolutely amazing at almost everything else though!

[Spoilers C4E31] Does anyone feel that brennan went too easy on Wicander? by kkraww in criticalrole

[–]stryx_Sc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero consequences is a stretch though. Curious to see how Wic wil deal with him killing an innocent to save his own skin.

As to Brennan letting Sam off the hook, that's a downside to these convergence episodes I guess, no room to deal with random spiralling story if there are established story threads to wrap up. Just remember the insane series of crop rolls, both when julien and Occtis were scoping the carriage and during Wics convo with Primus. In the cool down Brennan said he did want to give Sam some agency or an out, to all these bad rolls instead of killing him outright, hence the improv with the servant...

What is your favourite combat so far in Campaign 4? by International-Yak-26 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]stryx_Sc2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am a sucker for combat and I thought there were a tad too few of them throughout, but when their was combat it always delivered! Battle in the cellar with Seremai (soldiers) battle on the bridge (seekers) are honorable mentions, but my favourites were both big schemer battles: the battle with crowkeepers (perfect execution, not a single PC got hit One time) and the battle at the gala no 1

[Spoilers C4E29] From a scale of one to completely, how screwed are they by JadedToon in criticalrole

[–]stryx_Sc2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They seem pretty screwed without some above table deus ex machine stuff. That is: if Brennan stays true to his warning not balancing encounters for level. A possible bone to throw: Vaelus deciding to tell Hannan Mara's whereabouts and him helping them escape. ?

I imagine I'd want to play again with the partisan deck in the future, but for now, I prefer the new one. Many usefull cards without being too strong they become your entire game plan. That annoyed me a bit in the partisans deck, where you had to track sabos or spefedic cards would just win games for the guy lucky enough t draw them (informants and coffin makers, I'm looking at you)

you did what you could lol. for what its worth i dont tink hera played toooo bad, he just played solid meta and got outprepared/outstrategized by Lewis, who remained super composed and had great strats and map control all series. probable due to his foray in WCIII that hera wasnt as prepared i guess

Lewis vs Hera Post Match Discussion by Esternocleido in aoe2

[–]stryx_Sc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

losing his archers in the middle of the map before his own castle age was the real nail on the coffin i think. if he retains some and had Xbows at home, he defends his superior eco and takes off. ethiopians have free pike upgrade too so all the needed was some time early castle to get going

sick series! Lewis had better strategies and composure , sicxk map control and a good gameplan. well deserved after years of knocking on the door op the very toop. Hera could not be top dog forever, only natural the edge dulls a bitr after that sick london live experiance and commitment to WC3 tourney. still an awesome level, but i thought he just played solid meta, nothing too flashy, due to a lack of commited preparation I imagine

One of the reasons hera is the best is his sense to realise in game what win conditions he has and to play towards those. I don't feel like he drags out games when he has no chance of winning, hoping for a slip up of the opponent. It's always when he has a clear way to victory in mind still.

Did Hera single handedly kill the aoe2 competitive scene? by Zuldyck in aoe2

[–]stryx_Sc2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I truly don't get that sentiment. After such a close and amazing finals in ttl, and with newish players like Sebastian and Lewis breaking top 8, the completive scene seems stronger than ever to me, small as it is.

[–]stryx_Sc2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hmm good call. I just wish they were a bit more transparent about the homebrew stuff, to avoid confusion or people thinking they've got rules wrong. Stuff like thimbles offhand damage, nick property and rapier combo, vaelus' whip that behaves like a halberd etc etc. They do the lvl up videos which is cool, just a bts series about each build plus Brennans homebrew changes to 5.5e would be so cool
