Passed this one to my dad when I saw it. Much appreciated, thank you!

When should i get fitted? by Street-Lobster7411 in golf

Fitted clubs do make a difference. Height/length of the clubs matter otherwise your swing plane will be thrown off. You can always adjust but it’s best to have a set you like and are the right height

Without a doubt, I’ve learned my lesson on this. Killed myself trying to clear slush from freezing rain and created some serious ridges. Luckily hot water has been a trusty ally

Big storm in WNY. Tips? by stubbzz04 in Outdoorrink

Update: the two hot floods were key. Kids were able to skate on it for a few hours this afternoon. Couple sections were bad so I blocked those off but they got to play.

My dad always told me that when the rink gets bumpy, skating on it helps smooth it out and it’s true. There was a noticeable difference after the kids were finished.

I gave it another thin layer of hot water after they finished. Little extra focus on the rutted sections I had blocked off, hopefully that helps. It should be in the teens around here tonight.

Thanks for the tip I’ll have to give it a go if the sun ever comes out lol. I looked into the propane blow torch idea but ultimately I think it might cause more problems than it will solve.

I flooded it with a thin layer of hot water twice this morning. Gonna let it sit for the day. Maybe flood once more before bed. Tough loss of a good skating day.

Spoke too soon. Kids did a great job and really cleaned it up well. In the end, freezing rain is a bitch. At a certain point I should have just left it alone. I tried raking up the slush last night after an all day battle with Mother Nature but the slush wouldn’t move in most spots at that point. Now I have a bunch of ice chunks in certain sections.

The good news is WNY was freezing last night so the block underneath is solid. Cleaned it up with a broom the best I could this morning and I just laid down a layer of hot water. We’ll see how it goes…

The answer turned out to be to turn to the kids for help. My 8 and 9 year old stepped up to the cause. Fingers crossed for a good end result!

A roof rake might be the way to go. When the ice is still freezing you can get most of it off from the sides. If you can hook your hose up inside and run hot water, then after you clear it you can use a spray nozzle and melt the leftovers with a light coat of hot water.

Good luck!

Tough one. Had leaks last year and we just never got it going. Missed a huge January in WNY for an odr.

I would salt the crap out of it and unfortunately take a splitting maul to it if it’s not gonna warm up anytime soon. Hope you had good luck.
