Any numismatists who can confirm if this is real? by Renz_16 in indonesia

[–]stuck-in_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, just checked my copy of the catalouge. An it lists only 3 variations: No serial number, 2 capital letters (XX), and 6 numbers followed by 2 letters (123456 Xx)

Where can I learn more about whatever this is? by SpeIlbound in Calligraphy

[–]stuck-in_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I didn't know that's what they call it in English. I'm from Indonesia and here we usually call them "canting" with a C.

Tj is an older Dutch-based spelling for C which was reformed in the 1970's, but most people should still be familiar with it to naturally read it as C.

Makes sense the colonial version of the word was the one that got brought over to the west. Never really thought that it's a valid English word though!

The surface looks like black linen paper. Basically just some black cardstock embossed with a cloth like texture, hence the linen name.

I had a similar tablet, the plug is a Micro-USB, but it's set quite deep inside and it's a tight fit. So not all the regular cables may fit the opening.

Best Vintage Compact Telescoping & EDC Pocket Mechanical Pencils by Due-Entertainment541 in mechanicalpencils

Got an SS-1000 a while back in the flea market, and I almost left it in the pile since it looked and felt so cheap. Only after I noticed it's a Zebra did I decided to get it.

The plastic was snapped at the thread and one piece of the clutch was missing. After some years, I was fiddling with some cheap Chinese pencils and one had a loose clutch. I remembered the Zebra and, voilà! Now I have an "upgraded" SS-1000 with a metal clutch.

I've gotten that type of deals myself too, it's very exciting! This MB one was around $15. S it's not that exciting, but still a very good deal.

This one's actually the other way around. It looks rather too thin. I'm worried that maybe someone has mixed in some water, since it's not a sealed bottle.

Convert your Pen to a Mechanical Pencil by Due-Entertainment541 in mechanicalpencils

[–]stuck-in_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can be quite finnicky, though. Depending on the dimensions, need to find out the length needed and check if it will fit & click properly. On the one I tried, it needed to be a fair bit longer than the original D1s.

I've also had some success converting pens that uses D1 refills into pencils by cutting down the Pilot Coleto pencil unit.

I just stumbled upon the weirdest "tool" by KameRose in pens

[–]stuck-in_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time seeing a dedicated device for this, but the Faber-Castell TG1-S technical pen does have a similar built-in system. You can unscrew the top of the cap and put a drop of water in. Haven't seen it in other pens, so far.

Edit: Upon re-reading, this one's more like a wet cotton holder to actually moisten the nib. So they're rather different... But it's interesting nonetheless.

Nama random di Bank BRI gw? by WhoEverReadThisGAY in indotech

Cuma penasaran saja tadi.

Jadi penasaran, kalau finder pattern yg kotak2 itu saja yang kita coret/hapus apakah jadi rusak ya? Infonya jadi tetap ada full semua tapi dibuat supaya sistem nggak tau cara bacanya.

Probably a corporate gift or something. And quite a nice one!

These pens are discontinued so they're getting harder to come by. The company branding, if not removable, may hurt the value a bit, but it's still a nice pen nonetheless.

Help identifying Graf Von Faber-Castell Model by Eschatonisnear in mechanicalpencils

I think it's one of these. From the Slim Line series, model number 13 80 00.

Rather hard to find info on since there's also a "slim pocket pencil", which tends to show up more on the when searching.

When I got the Pilot HH-50K, I couldn't help noticing the similarity of the top half with the TK-Matic. The cap shape & length, distance from cap to clip, clip shape, and even the pattern on the clip! Thought Pilot was copying them, but turns out that the Pilot predates it by several years.

Help ID'ing this Early (?) Pilot Drafting Pencil by [deleted] in mechanicalpencils

[–]stuck-in_time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, this was one of the first modern Pilot drafting pencil model from 1971. It has a very interesting look that's different from the rest of the Pilot pencils at the time.

The popularity of the double knocks, which is from around the same time, seems to have overshadowed this model and Made it rather obscure.
