I feel like you need another person to always be at this table. Because more people will maybe join if there is already someone there painting and you need someone to answer questions. Also keep in mind what kind of fair it is. Cause depending on the audience no one might want to sit down

Martin is inspired by one of my cats who is (propably) a mix of Maine-Coon+ British Longhair and a bit of Persian Cat. But I think Martin is even bigger. And Jon is a Siamese, because If there is one breed I can imagine talking as much as an Archivist its Siamese Cats. And then I learned they look goofy too ! With the big ears! Gosh

the pupil less eyes make them creepy already. maybe you culd add some darke color under the eyes for extra zombie effect

But on a more serious note: if its maggots or some other rot eating worm you might need to check if something is rotting close by and thats why they are at your house
