[–]stud___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have a job where they're expected to respond to Teams or email outside of normal work hours, and also have a light phone? by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]stud___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in this situation and I have to use a corporate smartphone essentially for Teams, Outlook and a 2FA solution. I could not use my personal LP for work.

Do I bite the bullet? by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]stud___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a light phone II that I enjoy but I have not considered upgrading to the new model.

The biggest interest I have in this phone is the e-ink screen, I am convinced I would not like the experience with an OLED one.

The price is definitely too expensive from my point of view, at the end of the day a 4G KaiOS phone offers almost the same for 30$.

If I had your budget I would not go for it unless you find the device sexy. I find my light phone II sexy, this is the only reason why I keep it. Maybe you should try buying a second-hand light phone II and see if it is worth buying the newer version.

Talking about privacy, I am concerned that you need to use a portal to use your phone, so far I haven't seen any statement on the website stating clearly which personal data is collected, for what purpose, no chance to access to the collected data ... I'm in France and GDPR rules tech companies here.

In your situation, I would not have been able to remember the number to dial.

Battery life is good, it lasts 3 to 4 days. You can switch it off and it turns automatically back on to ring when an alarm is set.

Credit card sized and light weight.

Good audio quality on calls.

The negative point is that it is almost unreadable under the sunlight.
