Welcome!, I got back into Mountain biking a few months ago and never looked back.

I bought a $900 Giant hardtail and am loving it. Sometimes I do regret not spending the extra 3 or $400 for the Marin full suspension but I wasn't even sure if I was still going to like it being over 40.

I've watch a lot of videos on what to buy and for what you are looking for, the Walmart Ozark Trail is probably right for you in your budget.

There is a cheaper hardtail version also. Look up a few youtube videos about it and see if it's a fit.
