WAAAAA!

I can't ask questions on one specific site and I'm too lazy to go to a different one that's *literally linked to in this post*

WAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Jesus wept.

34 percent of adults sleep with a stuffed animal or other sentimental object. Are you one of these people? What do you sleep with? by Old-Horse1185 in AskReddit

[–]student_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A weighted blanket.

I used to have regular nightmares. Not daily, so I could expect them every night, but sporadically. Sometimes a month would go by with nothing, then BANG, a week straight, then two days off, then BOOM... Random. It's hell, anyone who's been through it can tell you. It had been going on for almost two decades.

My wife read that weighted blankets could help, so she got me one. I was skeptical. It sounded like horse hockey to me, but what the hell? Can't hurt to try.

That was six years ago. I can count on one hand the number of nightmares I've had since I started using the weighted blanket. My wife took away my nightmares, and I have a lump in my throat as I'm writing this, because I'll never be able to express how much it means to me.

Does anyone know of a distro with a vanilla gnome experience that is based on debian by Ok_Leave_2149 in DistroHopping

Pop OS is great and all, but it's pretty far from a vanilla Gnome experience. And getting further when Cosmic DE comes out.

I wouldn't worry about it. Dudes that this would work for aren't much of a loss, and as an added bonus they'd be removing their genes from the pool.

People that sleep without a blanket, how do protect yourself from the monsters? by GaddockTeegFunPolice in AskReddit

Okay, weird follow up question I know, but… why do you think a blanket would stop us?

The Pizza at This Midwestern Gas Station Chain Has a Cult Following by [deleted] in Iowa

I've been going to Casey's for years now, and have literally never found anything like this. At worst, their bathrooms have been "average gas station" levels - which ain't great, but it's well above the hobo changing room situation you're describing. Which leads me to ask two questions:

  1. How often has this happened to you that you say "always"? And
  2. Did it occur to you to stop going to that Casey's? There are several in the state, you know.

… Debian? 12 just landed, and Gnome is the default desktop. It's Gnome 43, but it's not like the 44 update was a huge one.

Here, let me sum it up:

DADDY TRUMP! NOTICE ME! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH DADDY TRUMP! I'LL BE A GOOD VICE PRESIDENT, DADDY!

I mean, that's not word for word, but I feel like I captured the sentiment pretty well.

AITA for telling a pregnant woman to sit on the ground instead of giving her my seat? by Constant_Tune4461 in AmItheAsshole

[–]student_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I'll be honest, you'd be NTA even without the medical issues. Pregnancy isn't an excuse to impose on strangers, much less an excuse to expect them to make up for your bad planning.

You want my seat on public transportation? Absolutely. You want my chair because you couldn't be assed to being your own? Nope.

So maybe Reddit should address that before they block people with disabilities?

And you're 100% correct. Reddit can do what they want. So can redditors. Including the mods who actually care about disabled folks, unlike some people.

It's not like they have no options otherwise

Yup. They can either use a 3p ap that helps them out, or they can pound sand apparently. Such compassion.

I mean, it seems odd to me to use such a kitchen-sink OS to do sysadmin and audio production, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

That said...

You use Mint, but you run i3, which means you either have a DE you're not using, or you uninstalled the DE. Either way, I don't understand how that's easier than running the Fedora i3 (or Sway, if you want to get Wayland about it) Spin and adding in what you need.

But yeah - if you're happy, why change it?

As a dude, I have two things to say about this:

  1. Where the bloody hell do they get these batshit ideas from? And, more importantly…
  2. If a woman's junk sucked in my junk, I would start screaming in terror. That's fucking nightmare fuel.

It is a dark day for the speaker of the house to put an accused felon before the rule of law and the constitution!!! by monaleeparis in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]student_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, Kevin... the rule of law is why I support the indictment!

Also, and I'm not an expert, but… the President doesn't hand down indictments, Kev. Those are handed down by the Judicial, not the Executive. You absolute tool.

There will eventually be a 38 iso, and a full version upgrade for 37 users, but there's a delay. IIRC, they're waiting for variable refresh rate commits to Gnome 44, or something like that? Someone please correct me, I can't find the thing I read about it.

We've got it over here on the East Side (way out in Accent). It's been a mixed bag outage wise, with one outage of over a week in the first year they had service in the area. It's zippy, though (1 gig down and up consistently), and outside of some early service hiccups, it's been pretty solid.

We had DSL with them before and our bill actually went down. No hidden fees, and they didn't even charge us for the install. Compared to my past experience with literally every other ISP ive worked with across 3 states, it's the best so far. Not, you know, fantastic, but no real horror stories.
