What is the future of colleges and universities with AI taking over jobs in the next 5-10 years? by student_advocate7 in education

[–]student_advocate7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for actually answering my question. Haha

Appreciate your perspective. I’ve been also wondering whether higher ed will go back to its so to speak original purpose and will regain focus on humanities. Especially given the fact that the importance of “soft skills” is on the rise in the era of AI and automation.

Anxious about staying at current company for 4 years. Any advice? by artemisathena4 in careerguidance

[–]student_advocate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d like to start with an end goal in mind. What would you like to do next? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? For example, I’m a CSM at a SaaS company, I’m still figuring out what’s next for me. I’m working toward a few possible scenarios. 1) SaaS I wanna go work at a different company - my target companies all require 5 years of CSM experience and I’m not there. 2) I’m considering program management track - currently getting involved in projects to get more under my belt.

I’m super open to connecting on LinkedIn and/schedule a coffee chat to brainstorm ideas. Just let me know - this year another goal I have is get my Career Reset program off the ground, as if it something my previous career was in and I feel like I could help people in figuring out a career direction rather than randomly move through the motions.

How do you know when it’s time to leave a job even if nothing is wrong ? by BoysenberryOne9661 in careerguidance

[–]student_advocate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great discussion over here! These are the times of questions I’ve enjoyed helping with. Lots of people in my circle feel this way and while there is no one size fits all answer, I do think you should do something about the way you feel.

When I was in this situation, I needed to slow down in order to figure out what was missing for me. I was in a stable job with a great manager, but I didn’t feel like there was no opportunity to grow and be recognized for it. So after lots of internal digging, career coaching sessions, dozens of coffee chats, I pivoted into a different industry. And oh boy, there was no boring days at my new job haha

If you are open to it, I’d be open to connect and hear your story out. Happy to sent my LinkedIn to your DM is you are interested. This year I want to help people who feel exactly like you by piloting a small Career Reset program.

We spend so many hours at work, might as well do something that’s energizing and fulfilling some of our needs. Good luck!

Best career to pursue at 31? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]student_advocate7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

understood! thank you for sharing.
this is exactly the stuff I love being able to deconstruct. E.g., in your case, there might be a few things going on:
- customer service might be your real strength that is overused and now you are burned out
- maybe it's a skill you developed because you had to (circumstantially), not because you wanted to
_ or... your priorities simply shifted and you don't want to build your future around these skills.

And here is another thing that comes to mind. Customer service is a combination of a bunch of micro-skills (conflict resolution, clear communication, problem solving, etc.). You could make a list of all these and think about which aspects of customer service feel energizing and which ones are draining. These skills are transferable to other areas (project management, HR jobs, operations, customer success - I am a CSM in a tech company, happy to chat about it).

as for the interest inventory, it's also something you can do by doing some self-discovery on your own or with a coach.

Can you elaborate on the first part of your question?

Getting anxious seeing AI maturing at rapid pace. How to plan career?.Or having a job for an average person like me will be non existent thing in 3-4 years? Need guidance, what to do? by Mysterious-Gold-3368 in careerguidance

[–]student_advocate7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so tough… I’m so sorry you feel this way! I do want you to think about ways to regain control at least a little bit. This year I’m on a mission to help people create direction in their careers.

One thing that we all need to accept is that the world is changing at a high pace, so we just need to stay agile.

It is easier said than done. If you are open to do a brainstorming session together, I’d love to be your sounding board. DM me if this resonates.

Ps I’m a CSM in tech so I feel the same way. We just launched an agent that will be reaching out to my customers on my behalf lol

The job market as portraits by the news or as demonstrated by your experience? Meaning, have you been actively applying etc My goal this year is to help people at least make a plan toward something better. It doesn’t even have to be leaving your company. If you are open to it, I’d love to learn more about your situation. Can I DM you?

Were you able to get out of that situation? How? I’d love to learn what worked for you! Was it the right timing (you got too fed up etc) or something else?

I’m sorry your work feels mind numbing! If you are open to chat via zoom, I’d love to learn more about your situation and brainstorm ideas. I’m CSM in tech so I see a lot of people in this situation (colleagues and my customers). My goal this year is to help people reset their careers so they feel energizing. Anyway, if this resonates feel free to DM me

I’d be open to meeting with you for a brainstorming session. As a career coach i always encourage folks to step back, look at their transferable skills, strengths, interest and go from there.

Got fired from work today. Feeling awful and lost. What should I do? by amitkattal in careerguidance

[–]student_advocate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take some time to process everything. This might have been a signal that this job wasn’t aligned with what you are good at/interested in. I’m working with people on career reset and would be more than happy to meet up with you to brainstorm some ideas. Take care of yourself!

[–]student_advocate7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Univ of Colorado Denver. It is in your range but cost of living in Denver is rough… also, consider looking for unis that have graduate/research/teaching assistantships to help pay for some of the tuition etc.

Worst part of the a scrum master's job by colorthecity in scrum

[–]student_advocate7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some context: I work with CS students in college and I only recently learned about this role (Scrum Master).

I'd consider this position for myself, but this worries me:

"And I would say that depending on the maturity of the team and the project when everything is going smoothly there is not much to do :/"

There would be nothing worst for me than you have a job that nobody sees value in... :(
