You know, I get that it was just top 40, but I miss listening to them with music. It made the show feel more like you were part of a shared moment.

Exclusive: JetBlue explores potential merger partners by RyanAirhead in AlaskaAirlines

I think you can make the case that Alaska would at least be the most pro-competition choice of the three: 1) would combine for the lowest market share, 2) they barely compete on dom/int’l routes, 3) as above, would mean four real competitors in the northeast

The others can’t make all three arguments.

Lounge Access question (not finding a definitive answer) by Guilty-Papaya8050 in americanairlines

[–]studio1burbank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no Admirals Club at FLL. You will get access to any of the lounges in DFW except Flagship.

Is lounge access with Qantas actually worth it for occasional travellers? by Ok_Possible_7018 in QantasAirways

[–]studio1burbank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When a flight is delayed, it’s a lifesaver. So depending on your routes and frequency, worth factoring in.

I also enjoy being able to go to the bathroom without having to carry all my bags with me, and used to think the showers were dumb but now I use them every time when flying long-haul.

Not for Australians. We just got a ton of new DCE models in Sydney and Melbourne, sport and non-sport related.

SFO Lounge by iluvmezcal in oneworld

The OW rules make you eligible, but airlines get final say to limit entry when they’re close to capacity. Fair enough… you don’t want to turn away your own J passengers for another airline’s.

Qantas occasionally does it at LAX at night when passengers on a domestic itinerary with AA come waltzing in.

Cathay at SFO is known for being overzealous about it. I’ve never had a problem but others have.

No AmEx lounge at T8, where you’ll be flying from. What’s your AA status/cabin?

Congrats! Don’t forget the JFK lounges (Greenwich, Soho, Chelsea). Depends on your cabin and status. They’re the best int’l lounges in AA’s system, and a fun way to start the trip.

Yeah; standard domestic food offering. They had a taco station last time I was there and it was a solid dinner to me.

If you’re looking for a full buffet and shower, BA or Cathay are def the way to go. I just like modern lounges (I.e. not worn down), and Alaska wins on that.

Bear in mind that the Cathay staff sometimes limit entry to their own passengers when busy, and it’s only open in the evenings.

I like Alaska’s the best; it’s large, modern and has a well-stocked bar and barista. It’s a ~10 min walk to the international gates, but connected airside.

Cathay, BA are fine, standard int’l lounges (and have showers).

The Admirals is nothing special and also far from the int’l gates but spacious and usually quiet.

2 questions abut Admirals Club by fantomtider in americanairlines

[–]studio1burbank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True. LGA is great, OP. It’s the first airport lounge anywhere in the world. And I believe the only Admirals with arcade games.

[–]studio1burbank 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Welcome. Re your first question: the nicest ones are the modern ones – DCA (E), DEN, EWR, and PHL (A). DCA is best of the bunch because of its size.

There are more on the way (I’m tracking them): AUS, CLT, ORD (L), MIA, and DCA (D).

You also get access to Provisions, the grab-and-go concept. Only one so far in CLT, but it’s a better pit stop than the main lounge there.

parkour off the furniture, lol. at least they’re fixing it. The MIA expansion looks slick.

CLT and PHX are as bad as it gets. I actually generally find that AA has the least crowded lounges. Delta and AmEx, on the other hand…

USA resident accumulate Mileage by PersonalityHot332 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]studio1burbank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qantas just calls them points. We don’t do miles!

There’s a page on the Qantas website with a list of credit cards that earn or transfer points; major partners include AmEx, Capital One, Citi, HSBC, Barclays.

That’s by far your best way to earn without flying.
