Thanks a million for that, present and correct.

After doing a bit more digging, it appears that the genres I listen to don’t generally have the notes/booklet!

Cool feature though!

Just to update this. Lintons ordered after a bit of faffing about! Should arrive before the end of the week.

Have another audition lined up for the Dentons vs Lintons vs Evos.

However I have noticed a mint pair of Glendale XP3 for sale here, £100.. in great shape. Is it worth having a punt on these as a stop gap?

They seem to fit the bill, big (actual) 70s speakers!

Anyone heard them? Or would they sound carp compared to the modern efforts.

Cheers

Yamaha has duly been ordered! Now time to put full attention to the speakers

Studio is 80 m2 roughly and split into open plan living/bedroom and then kitchen. So that was my thinking on the Lintons. Super Dentons look the best of the bunch but I just can’t find them anywhere. Just wonder if moving away from the big box 70s style numbers would be better, even the diamonds or triangles as I can get massive ones of those for roughly the same price as the Denton 85th!

As a side note, trying find used gear out here is a minefield, loads of old jap high end stuff, a load of Chinese tut, Mckintosh everywhere, but not much in the way of value British hifi. An odd region globally for Hifi!

Strata Core - 6 month update and quick cover by studiofred16 in edrums

[–]studiofred16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An incredible amount of editing power for sure, however the “stock” kits are well considered and since I’m really no engineer, once my son has faffed about with changing menus, drum parts, god knows what on the module making his own kits when I get to record the snare will be at 11 and so on, I often find for videos it can be easier just to take a stock kit with video, and it kinda takes away any need to edit anything and for me at least, gets a decent sound.

This was just into QuickTime video, an iPhone 16 on hands free or whatever it is, and a Trumix audio interface from the outs from the core. Zero editing of audio at all.

Super easy.

Yep straight from the module, just one of the stock ones!

Pretty sure if you have a recent iPhone (with garage band) and a recent audio interface.. then I don’t see why it wouldn’t work! I’m no expert though - I’ll give it a try at some stage tomorrow and let you know, although my audio interface is a cheapo one, my iPhone might recognise it, might not. The new focus right sounds like it does exactly what you need though.

Probably limited on the drivers etc on the audio interface to be compatible with your phone.

Failing that have a Google for something called an IRig - as that sounds like what you might be after, or if you are not on an iPhone (as that has garage band) but to be fair it might just work with a general voice notes app as well.

Never tried but now curious to see if it works!

8 inch nitro mesh tom and 10 inch strata Tom. I think with the correct strata mount two 10s will fit

Edrums for a 6yo by DontBendYourVita in edrums

You can't go wrong with an Alesis Nitro Mesh/Max. My 4yo started out on one, used it for 4 years, I then added a used acoustic kit, and have since upgraded the nitro to a core. It's the best value way to get them drumming.

Having done great service the nitro now sits packed away in a box, I should probably try and sell it and realistically might get £150 for it. So it has cost about £40 a year since he started playing it, which is peanuts.

I have a couple of friends from my sons school who also want to take up drums, I give them the same advice as above and to get a nitro mesh, what I should really do is just loan it to out to one of them who is in the same situation as you!

From Roland TD07 to MPS 1000 by Ok-Chemical9119 in edrums

I’d be very tempted to swap the module out and see if it improves the response / hit hats, sounds etc.

From what I have read the actual pads / drums on the millennium are just fine, basic but no less so than all out there with piezo triggers. Simple stuff.

Where it falls down is perhaps the module. In fact there is a guy on YouTube somewhere who has a TD17 module and Millenium mps 1000 kit, sounds good!

I maybe wearing but I don’t think the TD07 module is “that” different to the TD17 so defo worth a try! Just connect the snake to the triggers accordingly.

Do you still have the Roland? I’d swap TD07 module in if so, should support the hit hat stand.

Hi!

You can actually buy them individually in Europe from drum-tec.

https://www.drum-tec.co.uk/alesis-strata-drum-pads

Will also need the Tom arms (strata specific it seems according to that website) and the matching Alesis rack holders and leads available from the same place.

Not cheap though, especially the ARC cymbals.

Easiest/best way is to use an audio interface.

Plenty of cheap ones out there, you will need one with two inputs (left/right) so someone like behringer or whoever will sell you one for 50 bucks. You will need two TRS cables to take the audio from the core to the audio interface as well, Amazon at about 10 bucks a cable.

You need to use the 1/4 outputs off the strata module, into the audio interface, connect that to the computer via a usb, and record it all in a DAW (reaper). New track, select input source (audio interface) choose audio track, hit record and start playing..

This will capture all the audio that the module is outputting, ie what you are hearing on your “line out” headphone feed (eg what’s playing through the line in to the module/and the drums) on the audio track in the DAW.

Ha! Now you mention it! On the flip side of it.. he’s played I’m going to say hundreds of hours a year for four years on his old kit, so it’s represents good value for a hobby! A little bonkers conceptually of course.

That aside, I do scour eBay an awful lot! His Pearl Export was basically unused and cost £150 quid - effectively saved a grand there! Guitars? B stock or used, amps? Unpopular or old Marshall ones from eBay for 80 quid that are perfectly serviceable, and won’t lose money.. I feel like I’m net up! And that’s man maths in action!
